    摘要: Laser light is irradiated onto a foreign substance, which is contaminated into an organic layer of an organic EL element, to insulate the periphery of the foreign substance, thereby repairing a defect of the organic EL element that may be caused by the foreign substance. Before the laser light is irradiated onto a pixel containing a foreign substance, the laser light is irradiated onto peripheral pixels around the pixel containing the foreign substance, while shifting a focal position of laser light. The focal position of laser light is defined based on a laser irradiation mark and an emission state of the pixel. The laser light is irradiated with the adjusted focus to insulate a foreign substance section without damaging other portions than the periphery of the foreign substance, thereby making it possible to repair a defect that may be caused by the foreign substance.

    摘要: The present invention prevents a local luminance reduction at defects in pixel electrodes with a rapid and easy method. The present invention provides a method of manufacturing an organic EL panel that includes a TFT panel and organic EL devices disposed over a surface of the TFT panel in matrix arrangement, each of the organic EL devices including a pixel electrode disposed over the surface of the TFT panel, an organic luminescent layer disposed over the pixel electrode, and a counter electrode disposed over the organic functional layer. The method includes the steps of: providing a TFT panel; patterning pixel electrodes on a surface of the TFT panel; detecting in the pixel electrodes defects in which the surface of the TFT panel is exposed; roughening a portion of the surface of the TFT panel by applying a laser beam onto the portion, the portion including a surface exposed through the defect in the pixel electrode; forming an organic functional layer over the pixel electrodes and the surface of the TFT panel exposed through the defect in the pixel electrode; and forming a counter electrode over the organic functional layer.

    摘要: The present invention provides a liquid crystalline compound having a difluoropropyleneoxy group as a bonding group, which is represented by Formula (1): wherein R1 and R2 each independently represent hydrogen, halogen, a cyano group or an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; rings A1 to A5 each independently represent a 1,4-cyclohexylene group, a 1,4-cyclohexenylene group or a 1,4-phenylene group; Z1 to Z4 each independently represent a single bond, —CH2CH2—, —CH2O—, —OCH2—, —COO—, —OCO—, —CH═CH—, —C≡C—, —CF2O— or —OCF2—; Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y4 each independently represent hydrogen or fluorine; and k, l, m and n each independently represent 0 or 1. This liquid crystalline compound has a large absolute value (|&Dgr;&egr;|) of a dielectric anisotropy and shows a relatively small refractive anisotropy.
