    摘要： A burn through and flame propagation resistant system, includes a sheet of burn through and flame propagation resistant paper made of aramid fibers, mica flakes, and aramid fibrid binder; and one or more sheets of polymeric film, preferably, flame propagation resistant polymeric film, bonded to at least one major surface of the sheet of burn through and flame propagation resistant paper to form a laminated sheet. Preferably, for many applications, the system is also water vapor transmission resistant with the sheet or sheets of polymeric film or a coating providing the water vapor transmission resistance. The burn through and flame propagation resistant paper and/or polymeric film(s) may have major surface(s) coated with a heat sealable adhesive, e.g. for securing the laminated sheet to itself or another laminated sheet to form a bag or envelope for encapsulating insulation. The laminated sheet may be used as a covering or bag that encapsulates insulation material or as a layer overlaying, intermediate or underlaying one or more layers of insulation material. As an alternative to the laminated sheet, the system may include a sheet of burn through and flame propagation resistant paper which is treated with a heat and/or ultrasonically sealable, moisture and flame propagation resistant polyvinylfluoride water based emulsion.

    摘要： A chopper for chopping fibers or fiber strands having a back up roll and a blade roll containing blades that work against a peripheral surface of the back up roll and a method of using is disclosed. The chopper has a number of improved features for reducing the frequency of long fibers or long fiber strands and fuzz from getting into the chopped product. The chopper can have one or any combination of the improvements. The improvements include a strand guide located at least two feet up stream of the chopper, a first starting roll for starting a new strand that runs on a fluid bearing that can be adjusted to control the RPM of the first starting roll, a mount for a roll that runs against the peripheral surface of said back up roll, a strand guide insert for reducing fuzz generation and for preventing fuzz from getting into the product, and a deflector plate for catching and deflecting chopped strands thrown off the back up roll into a chopped strand product chute.

    摘要： A nonwoven fibrous mat containing non-cellulosic fibers such as glass fibers, mixtures of glass fibers and synthetic polymer fibers, ceramic fibers, mixtures of glass fibers and natural fibers and mixtures thereof bound together with a water soluble, formaldehyde free binder, the binder content of the mat being in the range of about less than about 4 weight percent of the dry mat is particularly useful in making wood or wood product laminates. The mat can also contain limited amounts of cellulosic fibers. The low binder content produces mat manufacturing efficiencies and advantages in the wood laminate.

    摘要： An elongated fibrous insulation blanket is pre-cut for custom fitting the insulation blanket into wall, floor, ceiling and roof cavities of different widths formed by the framework of a building. The blanket has at least one, preferably two or three, series of cuts extending between major surfaces of the blanket with successive cuts of each series of cuts being separated by a series of separable connectors located intermediate the major surfaces of the blanket. Each series of separable connectors hold together adjacent sections of the blanket for handling, but are separable by hand so that the blanket can be handled as a unit for insulating a cavity having a predetermined width or easily separated by hand into two or more sections at one or more of the series of separable connectors for insulating a cavity having a lesser width. Either major surface of the blanket may have a facing bonded thereto with one or more perforated lines or overlapping tabs in the facing permitting the facing to be separated by hand at each series of cuts and separable connectors. Preferably, the perforations of any perforated line(s) in the facing are closed by the bonding agent bonding the facing to the blanket so that the facing functions as a vapor barrier in spite of the perforations.
