    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the field of image processing technology, and in particular, to image encoding, decoding methods and devices, an encoder-decoder. The method includes: acquiring a visual saliency heat map of an image of a current frame, and filtering, by using the visual saliency heat map of the image of the current frame, the image of the current frame to obtain a target image; acquiring, by using the target image and an input image of a next frame, a motion estimation vector and a target prediction image of the input image of the next frame; and encoding a difference image between the input image of the next frame and the target prediction image and the motion estimation vector.

    Abstract: A method of entropy coding in a video encoder is provided that includes assigning a first bin to a first single-probability bin encoder based on a probability state of the first bin, wherein the first single-probability bin encoder performs binary arithmetic coding based on a first fixed probability state, assigning a second bin to a second single-probability bin encoder based on a probability state of the second bin, wherein the second single-probability bin encoder performs binary arithmetic coding based on a second fixed probability state different from the first fixed probability state, and coding the first bin in the first single-probability bin encoder and the second bin in the second single-probability bin encoder in parallel, wherein the first single-probability bin encoder uses a first rLPS table for the first fixed probability state and the second single-probability bin encoder uses a second rLPS table for the second fixed probability state.

    Abstract: Ultra light models and decision fusion for increasing the speed of intra-prediction are described. Using a machine-learning (ML) model, an ML intra-prediction mode is obtained. A most-probable intra-prediction mode is obtained from amongst available intra-prediction modes for encoding the current block. As an encoding intra-prediction mode, one of the ML intra-prediction mode or the most-probable intra-prediction mode is selected, and the encoding intra-prediction mode is encoded in a compressed bitstream. A current block is encoded using the encoding intra-prediction mode. Selection of the encoding intra-prediction mode is based on relative reliabilities of the ML intra-prediction mode and the most-probable intra-prediction mode.

    Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for compressing data of an image using multiple processing cores. The techniques include obtaining, using a first (second, etc.) processing core, a first (second, etc.) plurality of reconstructed blocks approximating source pixels of a first (second, etc.) portion of an image and filtering, using the first processing core, the first plurality of reconstructed blocks. The filtering includes enabling application of one or more filters to a first plurality of regions that include pixels of the first plurality of reconstructed blocks but not pixels of the second plurality of reconstructed blocks. The filtering further includes disabling application of the one or more filters to a second plurality of regions that include pixels of the first plurality of reconstructed blocks and pixels of the second plurality of reconstructed blocks.
