摘要: Set forth herein are pellets, thin films, and monoliths of lithium-stuffed garnet electrolytes having engineered surfaces. These engineered surfaces have a list of advantageous properties including, but not limited to, low surface area resistance, high Li+ ion conductivity, low tendency for lithium dendrites to form within or thereupon when the electrolytes are used in an electrochemical cell. Other advantages include voltage stability and long cycle life when used in electrochemical cells as a separator or a membrane between the positive and negative electrodes. Also set forth herein are methods of making these electrolytes including, but not limited to, methods of annealing these electrolytes under controlled atmosphere conditions. Set forth herein, additionally, are methods of using these electrolytes in electrochemical cells and devices. The instant disclosure further includes electrochemical cells which incorporate the lithium-stuffed garnet electrolytes set forth herein.

摘要: A hybrid cathode for a Li—S battery may include an intercalation-type material and a conversion-type material. The conversion-type material, such as sulfur, may increase the gravimetric energy density, Eg, of the battery. The intercalation-type material may increase the electrical and ionic conductivity of the cathode and contribute to the capacity of the battery, enabling replacement of partial high-surface-area conductive carbon and increasing the volumetric energy density, Ev. In combination, the conversion-type material and the intercalation-type material may be used to increase Eg and Ev simultaneously while providing sufficient rate capability. In one example, a hybrid cathode includes an electrode and a cathode material. The cathode material includes a first concentration of an intercalation compound, a second concentration of sulfur, and a third concentration of carbon. Furthermore, the intercalation compound and sulfur contribute to the capacity of the Li—S battery within a voltage window of 1.7 V to 2.8 V.

摘要: An object of the present disclosure is to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery separator which has high heat resistance and is resistant to the detachment of a heat resistant layer. A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to an example embodiment includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The separator includes a polyolefin substrate and a heat resistant layer disposed on a side of the substrate. The heat resistant layer includes an aramid resin, and the aramid resin has a ratio (B/A) of 0.94 to 1.14 wherein A is the absorbance at a wavelength of 1318 cm−1 and B is the absorbance at a wavelength of 1650 cm−1 in an infrared absorption spectrum obtained by infrared spectroscopic measurement.

摘要: An alkaline battery separator containing an alkali resistant fiber and a binder, wherein the alkaline battery separator has two surfaces which are a surface A that is smoother comparing with the other surface and has an arithmetic mean surface roughness Ra (A), and a surface B that is rougher and has an arithmetic mean surface roughness Ra (B), the amount of the binder is 5 to 20% by mass based on the total mass of the separator, a value obtained by dividing the arithmetic mean surface roughness Ra (A) by the arithmetic mean surface roughness Ra (B) [Ra (A)/Ra (B)] is 0.700 or more and 0.980 or less, and the arithmetic mean surface roughness Ra (B) of the surface B is 3.0 μm or more and 10 μm or less.

The separator has excellent adhesion with an electrode and shows low resistance characteristics.

摘要: The present invention relates to surface modifying agents for polymeric and/or textile materials, methods of making and/or using a surface modifying agent to modify and functionalize polymeric and/or textile materials, and/or methods of using surface modified or functionalized polymeric and textile materials, and/or products using or incorporating surface modified or functionalized polymeric and textile materials. For example, the surface modifying agent in precursor form can be styrene sulfonyl azide monomer, polymer or copolymer capable of undergoing a chemical reaction in the presence of heat or light to form one or more styrene sulfonated nitrene monomers, polymers or copolymers, which are capable of chemically reacting with the surface of a polymeric or textile material to endow a specific or desired chemical surface functionality to the surface of a polymeric or textile material. Furthermore, the present invention is possibly preferably directed to a surface modifying agent which comprises a styrene sulfonated nitrene monomer, polymer or polymer containing one or more nitrene functional groups, which are capable of chemically reacting via an insertion reaction into one or more carbon-hydrogen bonds on the surface of a polymeric or textile material in order to chemically attach a specific or desired chemical functionality to the surface of a polymeric or textile material.

摘要: An aspect of the present application provides a separator comprising a porous substrate, and a first coating layer disposed on at least one surface of the porous substrate and comprising an inorganic particle and a binder. The first coating layer comprises a first region and a second region, the first coating layer in the first region comprises a first thickness, and the first coating layer in the second region comprises a second thickness; the first thickness is greater than the second thickness, and the area in the second region is greater than the area in the first region. Another aspect of the present application provides a lithium ion battery comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode and the above separator. The purpose of the present application is to provide a separator having an increased thickness in a partial coating layer and a lithium ion battery comprising the above separator.
