Abstract:
An aqueous composition including multi-stage latex polymer particles is provided. The multi-stage latex polymer particles include (A) a first-stage polymer containing (i) an ethylenically unsaturated acid monomer with two carboxylic acid groups and (ii) a first vinyl monomer, and (B) a second-stage polymer containing (i) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer with an epoxy group and (ii) a second vinyl monomer. An article including a nonwoven textile impregnated with the aqueous composition is also provided.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides articles of manufacture with improved moisture control as well as methods of making such articles. In some embodiments, provided herein the article has a fabric with an outer hydrophobic surface and an inner surface with hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions where the hydrophilic regions can form a pattern, allowing moisture to collect and move through the pattern, and the hydrophobic regions prevent the whole inner surface from becoming moist and the outer hydrophobic regions does not show moisture. The fabric may be used to make garments. The entire inner surface of the garment may be patterned with hydrophilic patterns for partial absorption, and the entire outer surface of the garment is hydrophobic, thereby preventing perspiration from being seen from outside of the garment. Further provided herein are methods of making fabrics with improved moisture control including by printing or knitting.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a compound prepared by (i) reacting (a) at least one compound selected from diisocyanate, polyisocyanate, or mixture thereof; (b) at least one isocyanate-reactive compound selected from a fluorinated alcohol; a cyclic or acyclic sugar alcohol which is substituted with at least one —R1, —C(O)R1, —(CH2CH2O)n(CH(CH3)CH2O)mR2, —(CH2CH2O)n(CH(CH3)CH2O)mC(O)R1, or mixtures thereof; or mixtures of a fluorinated alcohol and a substituted cyclic or acyclic sugar alcohol; and (c) at least one isocyanate-reactive ethylenically unsaturated compound; wherein each n is independently 0 to 20; each m is independently 0 to 20; m+n is greater than 0; each R1 is independently a linear or branched alkyl group having 5 to 29 carbons optionally comprising at least 1 unsaturated bond; each R2 is independently —H, or a linear or branched alkyl group having 6 to 30 carbons optionally comprising at least 1 unsaturated bond, or mixtures thereof; and (ii) reacting the reaction product of step (i) with a bisulfate source.
Abstract:
An aqueous emulsion composition comprising: i) partially fluorinated copolymer; ii) one or more co-solvents; iii) one or more surfactants; and optionally iv) one or more defoamers; wherein the co-solvent comprises fatty acids, esters of fatty acids, glycerides, glycols, or mixture thereof, and is useful for providing water and oil repellency to fibrous substrates without excessive pad roller build-up during application.
Abstract:
Provided are a textile fabric sheet having stain and liquid resistance including (a) a fabric substrate, (b) a first polyurethane coating layer formed on a first surface of the fabric substrate; (c) a second aqueous acrylic coating layer formed on the first coating layer of the polyurethane coating layer; and (d) a third stain-resistant coating layer formed on the second aqueous acrylic coating layer and a method of preparing the same. Thus, a texture characteristic of the fabric substrate itself can be exhibited, and due to the polyurethane coating layer, the aqueous acrylic coating layer and the stain-resistant coating layer stacked in three steps, excellent water resistance, stain resistance and air permeability can be exhibited.
Abstract:
This invention relates to composite backing materials (e.g., polymer impregnated nonwoven fabrics) and coated abrasive articles that include such composite backing materials. This invention also relates to methods of making and using said composite backing materials and coated abrasive articles. The claimed processes and systems related to the use and manufacturing of coated abrasive articles are improved and cost effective.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to nonbreathable extrusion coated nonwoven structures. The structures comprise a nonwoven web comprised of monocomponent or bicomponent fibers having a coating comprising LDPE optionally blended with LLDPE and/or an elastomer. The monocomponent or bicomponent fibers comprise an ethylene based polymer, preferably at the surface of the fiber.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a stable, aqueous wrinkle controlling and, optionally, odor-absorbing, composition, preferably for use on fabric. The composition preferably comprises fabric lubricant, shape retention polymer, lithium salts, and/or plasticizers for wrinkle control and, optionally, from about 0.1% to about 20%, by weight of the composition, of solubilized, water-soluble, uncomplexed cyclodextrin. Optionally, the composition can contain low molecular weight polyols; metallic salts to help control odor; nonionic surfactants to improve performance and formulatability, a humectant, etc. The composition is essentially free of any material that would soil or stain fabric. The composition is preferably applied as small particle size droplets, especially from spray containers which preferably are in association with instructions for use, especially when the composition comprises only water and perfume.
