Abstract: A fully automated, integrated, end-to-end synchronized and compact manufacturing system produces polymer or metal case ammunition. Manufacturing stations support case assembly, sealing (gluing/welding), final product inspection, cartridge packaging or binning, and loading. Station modularity facilitates rapid changeover to accommodate ammunition of differing calibers. Sensors and apparatus may be provided to place a manufacturing cell in a wait state until all components or materials are received in a preferred orientation for proper assembly. The system may join and use multipart cases, each including a lower portion with a head end attached thereto and at least one upper portion having a necked-down transition to the open top end. Elevator feeders, vibratory bowl feeders, and robotic pick-and-place feeders may be used to deliver components for assembly.

Abstract: A loading system for an ammunition case gauge is provided. The system includes first and second movable support assemblies that are coupled between a base plate and an upper support plate. The system includes a feeder housing coupled to the upper support plate having an interior region communicating with a top open end thereof and a side opening thereof. The system includes a pusher plate having a bottom wall and a plurality of shafts that receives the case gauge thereon. The system includes a feeder plate that is disposed on the case gauge such that the case gauge is disposed between the pusher plate and the feeder plate. The side opening is sized to receive the pusher plate, the case gauge, and the feeder plate therethrough. The system includes a vibratory motor that vibrates the feeder plate, the case gauge, and the pusher plate.

Abstract: A dispense for dispensing an adhesive onto a remote surface, such as a case mouth and primer ammunition. The dispense includes a reservoir containing an adhesive; a positive displacement pump; and a nozzle having a tapered tip. The positive displacement pump delivers a predetermined amount of the adhesive, preferably an anaerobic adhesive, from the reservoir to the nozzle at predetermined intervals. The nozzle discharges the predetermined amount of adhesive through the air and at least 1/16-inch onto the remote surface.

Abstract: A progressive press for loading or reloading ammunition casings has a base containing a reversible press motor with speed control, and vertically-oriented nuts mechanically connected to the motor and having vertically-oriented power screws extending from the nuts. The screws are affixed to a tool head which can receive dies and other tools for loading and/or reloading ammunition casings. A rotatable shell plate receives ammunition casings and advances the casings through a series of operations performed by different dies and other tools. Using a control system, the press motor can be operated to extend the screws and lift the tool head when the shell plate is advanced, and to retract the screws and tool head to perform operations on the casings when the shell plate is stationary.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to the field of the arms industry and metallurgy, and also to the fields of materials engineering and chemical engineering. More specifically, the present invention refers to a novel ammunition cartridge comprising reinforced polymer and the manufacturing process thereof. The ammunition cartridge serves for receiving the gunpowder so that explosion can occur inside the weapon barrel. The technology proposed reduces the quantity of components to be pre-manufactured and assembly processes on the product, producing a full cartridge, directly upon injecting the thermoplastic, and can also use bi-component injection. With this, the portion of the collar ring can be made entirely of fiber-reinforced polymer material, which reduces the weight of the item and is beneficial for the useful life of the weapon in the bolt region.
