    Abstract: A method for protecting an inner wall (12) of a shaft furnace, the method comprising the steps of: providing at least one injection device (28) through the inner wall (12) of the shaft furnace, the injection device (28) being configured to inject protective material into the shaft furnace; and injecting on demand the protective material into the shaft furnace through the injection device (28), in such a manner that the protective material builds up to form a protection wall between the interior of the shaft furnace and the furnace wall (12).

    Abstract: A binder trap system that has more than one binder trap. All of the binder traps are independently connected to a chill unit. The chill unit provides chilled fluid at a precise temperature to chill contents of the binder traps. All of the binder traps are independently connected to a heat unit. The heat unit provides heated fluid at a precise temperature to heat contents of the binder traps. The binder trap system has the capability to independently be chilled or heated from all of the other binder traps in the system.

    Abstract: A furnace may include a furnace muffle that can accommodate relatively larger workpieces than other furnaces. The furnace muffle may include a cover that includes one or more sets of plates. The plates may be configured to prevent sag during extended runtimes while still enabling the furnace to reach a temperature (e.g., a temperature between 1590° C. and 1650° C.) for sintering a workpiece. In some examples, the cover may include a first set of plates of a first material (e.g., a first alumina refractory material) and a second set of plates of a second material (e.g., a second alumina refractory material). The second material may have greater thermal conductivity than the first material. Accordingly, plates of the second set may be located in higher temperature zones of the furnace to enable efficient heat transfer from heater elements through the furnace muffle to a contact plate where a workpiece is heated.

    Abstract: A cold crucible usable in the field of high-temperature production of monocrystalline materials. The cold crucible includes: a cold cage which has sectors made of a material having good electrical conductivity and in which a charge is melted, and a cooling device with heat transfer fluid, configured to cool each segment of the cold cage from the inside. The cold crucible is essentially such that it further includes at least one device for generating a static magnetic field, each generating device being housed inside one of the sectors of the cold crucible. Each static magnetic field thus generated having the effect of slowing down the electromagnetic stirring of the molten charge, such that it is possible to produce monocrystalline ingots of significantly larger diameter than the diameter of the seed initiating their growth.
