摘要: A system for generating a chlorine-containing mixture comprises an anodic chamber comprising an anodic electrode and having an inlet for a first solution and an outlet for an anolyte solution. A cathodic chamber is spaced from and adjacent the anodic chamber in the system. The cathodic chamber comprises a cathodic electrode and has an inlet for a second solution and an outlet for a catholyte solution. The second solution may be the same as or different from the first solution, and at least one of the first and second solutions comprises a chlorinated solution. A membrane is disposed between and separates the anodic chamber and the cathodic chamber. The system further comprises a dilution chamber having an inlet for an aqueous solution and an outlet. Finally, the system comprises a mixing chamber, which has an outlet for the chlorine-containing mixture. The outlet of the dilution chamber is in fluid communication with the mixing chamber. Chlorine gas is generated in the anodic chamber along with the anolyte solution and at least the chlorine gas is combined with the aqueous solution in the mixing chamber. The system allows for a free available chlorine (FAC) value of the chlorine-containing mixture to be selectively controlled.

摘要: An electrolyzer including an electrolysis stack containing a plurality of panel-like electrolysis cells in a side-by-side arrangement and being electrically interconnected in series, wherein each electrolysis cell comprises an anode chamber with an anode arranged therein and a cathode chamber with a cathode arranged therein, wherein the anode chamber and the cathode chamber are separated from one another by a sheet-like separator. The electrolyzer having means for mechanically securing the electrical interconnection of the electrolysis stack. The stack contains at least two multi-cell elements, each including a plurality of the electrolysis cells and mechanical compression means, wherein the electrolysis cells of each multi-cell element are held together in a sealed manner by the mechanical compression means and wherein the means are configured to mechanically secure the electrical interconnection of the multi-cell elements.

摘要: Described herein is a carbon-efficient bicarbonate electrolyzer and assembly. In some embodiments, an electrolyzer assembly comprises: a cathode disposed in a cathode chamber having ports for receiving a bicarbonate (HCO3−) solution; an anode disposed in an anode chamber having ports for receiving an anolyte; a cation exchange membrane disposed between the cathode chamber and the anode chamber; and a buffer layer disposed between the cathode chamber and the cation exchange membrane. In some embodiments, the electrolyzer assembly is configured to convert the bicarbonate (HCO3−) solution to a formate (OOCH−) solution by movement of cations from the anode to the cathode via the cation exchange membrane.

摘要: A compression apparatus includes at least one compression unit, an anode end plate provided on an anode separator, a cathode end plate provided on a cathode separator, and a plate-like member. The compression apparatus causes, by using the voltage applier to apply a voltage, protons taken out from an anode fluid that is supplied to the anode to move to the cathode via the electrolyte membrane and generates compressed hydrogen. The plate-like member is provided with a recess in which to store the compressed hydrogen and a groove portion that surrounds an outer periphery of the recess. The groove portion is provided with a seal material and a ring material that is adjacent to an outer edge of the seal material and that surrounds the seal material. An outer peripheral surface of the groove portion and an outer peripheral surface of the ring material are both provided with gradients so as to become wider toward an opening of the groove portion.

摘要: Described herein are systems and methods for the management and control of electrolyte within confined electrochemical cells or groups (e.g. stacks) of connected electrochemical cells, for example, in an electrolyzer. Various embodiments of systems and methods provide for the elimination of parasitic conductive paths between cells, and/or precise passive control of fluid pressures within cells. In some embodiments, a fixed volume of electrolyte is substantially retained within each cell while efficiently collecting and removing produced gases or other products from the cell.

摘要: Improvement in the efficiency of carbon dioxide reduction reaction is achieved. A gas supply unit having a plurality of pores is established in a lower portion of a reduction chamber, and carbon dioxide is supplied as bubbles into an aqueous solution. This can elevate a concentration of carbon dioxide dissolved in the aqueous solution without stirring the aqueous solution using a stirring bar, and render the concentration uniform in the aqueous solution. Therefore, the efficiency of reduction reaction of carbon dioxide in a reduction electrode can be improved.
