摘要: The invention relates to a process for the manufacture of thermally expandable thermoplastic microspheres. The process comprises, providing a mixture of monomeric materials suitable for polymerisation to form a thermoplastic polymer and at least one blowing agent, providing to the mixture a colloidal silica that is surface-modified with at least hydrophobic organosilane groups and forming an emulsion. A polymerisation is performed to form the thermally expandable thermoplastic microspheres. The invention further relates to thermally expandable thermoplastic micro spheres, expanded micro spheres and their use in the manufacture of products.

A method of making a solidified, conformable porous composite in which no solvent is introduced into and extracted from the composite in the formation of pores is disclosed herein.

摘要: A HIPE foam may including a vinyl-based crosslinked polymer as a base material resin. The vinyl-based crosslinked polymer may be formed by crosslinking a polymer of a styrene-based monomer and/or an acryl-based monomer. An apparent density ρ of the HIPE foam may be 35 kg/m3 or more and 500 kg/m3 or less. A molecular weight between crosslinking points of the vinyl-based crosslinked polymer forming the HIPE foam may be 2×103 or more and 2×105 or less. The HIPE foam may be used as, for example, a machinable material or an impact absorbing material.

摘要: Thermoplastic resin foamed particles of the present invention including more than one or more functional additive selected from inorganic powder and inorganic fibers each includes a core layer formed of a thermoplastic resin and a coating layer in a foamed state formed of a thermoplastic resin, the mass ratio of the coating layer to the core layer is 99:1 to 50:50, the content (X) of the functional additive in the core layer is 5 to 90% by mass, and the content of the functional additive in the coating layer is smaller than the content (X) of the functional additive in the core layer. By this way, thermoplastic resin foamed particles from which a homogeneous foamed particle molding having excellent dimension stability, fusibility and appearance can be obtained while containing functional additive are provided.

摘要: A method of expanding expandable polymeric microspheres including contacting an aqueous slurry including unexpanded, expandable polymeric microspheres with heat in-situ during manufacture of a cementitious composition or article, wherein the aqueous slurry optionally further includes an admixture therefor. A method of manufacturing a cementitious composition or article includes: (i) contacting an aqueous slurry of unexpanded, expandable polymeric microspheres with heat proximate to and/or during said manufacturing of the cementitious composition to create expanded polymeric microspheres; (ii) pre-wetting the expanded polymeric microspheres; and (iii) mixing the pre-wetted, expanded polymeric microspheres with cement and water to form the cementitious composition, wherein the aqueous slurry optionally further comprises an admixture therefor.
