摘要: A food tray has a lower tray containing a first food product and an upper tray nested stably at least partly inside the lower tray, with the upper tray containing a second food product. An air permeable interface is provided between the upper tray and lower tray to allow venting of steam from the lower tray during cooking. A cover is provided for the food tray. Each of the lower tray and the upper tray are formed of a material that is suitable for use in a microwave or conventional oven. Various constructions may be used to create the air permeable interface, such as lugs, ledges and lips. The upper tray may sit above the lower tray. The trays are nested loosely for ease of removal of the upper tray from the lower tray. Various configurations of cover may be used such as a sleeve, carton or lid. The upper tray may contain the higher value food product.

The packaged food product may comprise a cup containing multiple ingredients in sealed pouches suitable for use in making an omelet or other egg-based entrées, with the cup being suitable for microwave cooking of an egg-based entrée. The ingredients may include vegetable components that offer organoleptic properties similar to those of fresh vegetables after an extended period of time. Ideally, time required for processing, shipment, storage, etc., which may be, e.g., several weeks, may pass without unacceptable degradation of taste, texture, mouth feel, flavor, aroma, color, nutritional content or other important qualities. In some embodiments, the ingredients may also include additional components, such as, for example, one or more meats, and/or one or more varieties of cheese.

摘要: The present disclosure relates generally to flexible product packaging and, in particular, to flexible packaging structures for products such as food products stored and transported for later reheating or cooking. In one aspect, an ovenable flexible packaging structure includes a paper layer having a first major surface and a second major surface opposite the first major surface, the paper layer having a cutout defining a window. A printed ink layer is disposed on the first major surface of the paper layer and a varnish layer is disposed over the printed ink layer. A heat sealable polyester layer is disposed on the second major surface of the paper layer, the heat sealable polyester layer having a strip of perforations formed therein. The strip of perforations and the cutout are at least partially overlapping with each other. An adhesive layer intermediate the paper layer and the heat sealable polymer layer includes an adhesive for adhesively bonding the paper layer to the heat sealable polymer layer. In further aspects, packaging articles formed of the flexible packaging structures and methods for making the flexible packaging structures and packaging articles are provided.

A latch assembly of the container has a latch and a vent flap. The latch is pivotally attached to the lid and is configured to engage with the container body to secure the lid to the rim when in a latched position. The vent flap is pivotal relative to the latch between an open position in which the flap is spaced from the vent hole and a sealing position in which the flap seals the vent hole.

Example modular meal components include a tray, a meal component disposed within the tray, and a sauce component disposed within the tray. The meal component is selected from a protein component, a starch component, a vegetable component, an appetizer component, and a dessert component. Each modular meal component is configured and/or formulated to reach at least 165° F. or at least 167° F. when heated from frozen for a heating time period within the range of from about 20 minutes to about 60 minutes and at a heating temperature within the range of about 350° F. to about 450° F.
