Abstract: A rear view assembly for a vehicle comprises a rear view device having a viewing element and a housing, wherein the rear view device is attached to the vehicle via a mounting structure. The mounting structure comprises a base frame having an upper plate, a lower plate, a middle portion, a first mounting portion and a second mounting portion; a shaft configured on the base frame, and at least one fold arm configured on the shaft via a powerfold mechanism. The first mounting portion of the base frame is mounted on the vehicle at a first mounting location and the second mounting portion of the base frame is mounted on the vehicle at a second mounting location. The first mounting location is spaced apart from the second mounting location.

Abstract: A vehicle has an automatically tiltable seat, a plurality of seat actuators fully supporting the automatically-tiltable seat to enable the automatically tiltable seat to pitch or roll to compensate for motion of the vehicle, and a processor to predict the motion of the vehicle and to control the plurality of seat actuators. The plurality of seat actuators automatically adjusts the pitch or roll of the automatically tiltable seat in response to the motion of the vehicle. The seat actuators also provide shock absorption.

Abstract: A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror reflective element assembly. The mirror reflective element assembly includes a main reflective element backing plate and a main reflective element. The main reflective element includes a glass substrate having a mirror reflector coated at a surface thereof. The mirror reflector-coated glass substrate of the main reflective element is attached at the main reflective element backing plate. The mirror reflective element assembly includes an auxiliary reflective element backing plate and an auxiliary wide angle reflective element. The auxiliary wide angle reflective element is positioned on the auxiliary reflective element backing plate. The auxiliary reflective element backing plate is attached to the main reflective element backing plate via an attachment mechanism.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a vision adjustment mechanism, comprising a first part and a second part pivotably arranged thereto. The first part has a trough, into which a head part at least partially complementary to said trough can be inserted, forming at least one clamping gap between the trough and the head part. The second part has at least one clamping part, which is formed to be complementary to the clamping gap and can be arranged in the latter such that the second part is fixed to the first part to be pivotable thereto. The fixing means is formed in such a way that it biases the head part in the direction towards the first part for fixing the two parts, and it fixes the second part against rotation relative to the first part. The invention also relates to a mirror unit having such a vision adjustment mechanism.

Abstract: An exterior rearview mirror assembly configured for mounting at a vehicle includes a mounting arm, an electrically operated actuator at one end of the mounting arm, an attachment portion at the other end of the mounting arm, and an exterior mirror head movable relative to the mounting arm via the actuator. The exterior mirror head includes an exterior mirror reflective element attached at an attachment plate of the exterior mirror head. The exterior mirror reflective element attached at the attachment plate moves in tandem with movement of the exterior mirror head relative to the mounting arm when the driver of the equipped vehicle operates the actuator. The attachment plate of the exterior mirror head includes wall structure that extends from the front side of the attachment plate. No part of the exterior mirror head encroaches onto or overlaps the outermost side of the exterior mirror reflective element.

Abstract: A vehicle has a seat movable between an upright position and a reclined position and an automatically adjustable headrest connected to the seat, the automatically adjustable headrest being automatically adjusted for a posture of a head of a user when the user is reclined in the reclined position. The automatically adjustable headrest is automatically adjusted in response to a camera detecting that the user is sleeping or resting either on his or her back or on his or her side, the headrest being adjusted for either a side sleeping posture or a back sleeping posture.

Abstract: A vehicular exterior breakaway rearview mirror assembly includes a skull-cap mirror shell and a reflective element. With the mirror assembly mounted at an exterior side of a vehicle, the skull-cap mirror shell has an inboard wall that faces toward the exterior side of the vehicle. A blind spot indicator is disposed at an aperture established at the inboard wall of the skull-cap mirror shell. An illumination source of the blind spot indicator is activated to illuminate the blind spot indicator responsive to an electronic blind spot monitoring system of the vehicle detecting another vehicle that is approaching or overtaking the equipped vehicle. Illumination of the blind spot indicator by activation of the illumination source is readily viewable by the driver of the equipped vehicle and is not readily viewable by a driver of the detected other vehicle.

Abstract: An active outside rear view system for a vehicle includes a support structure mounted to an exterior surface of the vehicle. A rear view device is movably affixed to the support structure. A linkage extends from a first end to a second end, where the first end of the linkage is movably affixed to an aerodynamic enclosure and the second end of the linkage is movably affixed to the support structure. An actuator is engaged with the linkage and moves the aerodynamic enclosure between at least a first position and a second position different from the first position. The aerodynamic enclosure is independently movable relative to the rear view device and the support structure. The aerodynamic first position and the second position provide differing aerodynamic characteristics to the active outside rear view system.
