摘要: An apparatus for assisting the mobility of a user is disclosed. The apparatus includes an electronic device provided in a device body and a haptic unit. The electronic device includes a sensing unit, a machine vision unit, and a path planning unit. The machine vision unit is connected to the sensing unit and is configured to detect one or more obstacles in a vicinity of the user. The path planning unit is capable of developing a movement route for the user to avoid the one or more obstacles. The haptic unit includes a haptic arrangement having a plurality of haptic actuators adapted to provide a tactile stimulation to the torso or limbs of the user. The plurality of haptic actuators actuate based on the movement commands from the path planning unit to signify a travel direction in which there is no obstacle.

摘要: A guide system is provided that uses a plurality of sensors to identify and determine a clear path for an ambulatory vision impaired person. The system includes one or more wheels that rotate to propel the system, a platform supported by the one or more wheels and housing a processor, a rigid harness with a haptic feedback grip that is positioned to be grasped by an operator, and one or more sensors configured to sense information about the environment. In operation, the processor analyzes information sensed by the sensors to identify object in the path of the guide system and sends messages to the operator to allow the operator to avoid the identified objects. The messages may be sent to the operator via the haptic feedback grip or audibly via a speaker or via a wireless connection to a haptic or audio device being worn by the operator.

摘要: It is determined whether a traffic light is recognized in an image based on each of a result of a recognition operation by a traffic light first recognition unit (a recognition operation of the traffic light for an image acquired by a camera using a learned model based on pre-annotated data) and a result of a recognition operation by a traffic light second recognition unit (a recognition operation of the traffic light for an image acquired by the camera based on a feature amount of the traffic light). This makes it possible to sufficiently obtain the recognition accuracy of the traffic light, and to appropriately perform an instruction to a pedestrian according to the state of the traffic light.

摘要: When a frontmost white line of a crosswalk cannot be detected due to an obstacle existing on the crosswalk, an edge position of the obstacle closer to a pedestrian in an image acquired by a camera is set as the frontmost white line of the crosswalk. As a result, a vibration generation device vibrates in a pattern that urges the pedestrian to stop at the time when the pedestrian reaches a position before the edge position of the obstacle closer to the pedestrian, so that a stop notification for walking can be appropriately performed to the pedestrian even when the obstacle exists on the crosswalk.

摘要: An illuminated walking assistance apparatus is disclosed. In at least one embodiment, the apparatus provides an elongated staff having a ground-engaging tip portion at a first end and a handle at an opposing second end. The staff provides a light pipe positioned proximal the tip portion and having a light-emitting member disposed therein to selectively illuminate the ground proximal the tip portion. The staff further provides a red nightlight which is always on so as to facilitate locating the apparatus in a dark environment.

摘要: A cane tip has a first roller and second roller, each roller having a semispherical exterior surface with a peripheral edge surface having a circular configuration. The peripheral edge surfaces are designed to engage with and roll over a support surface when the cane tip is being moved forwardly and rearwardly to reduce impact forces from being transmitted up the cane to the user's hand and arm. The spherical exterior surfaces are designed to engage with and roll over the support surface when the cane tip is moved from side to side while reducing impact forces from traveling up the cane to the hand and arm of a user of the cane tip.
