Abstract: An improved method of treating excess, sagging skin of a patient using acoustic shock waves has the steps of: providing a patient with excess sagging skin tissue in need of an acoustic shock wave treatment; applying a liquid based topical treatment to surfaces of the excess sagging skin and an acoustic shock wave applicator to acoustically couple skin surfaces to enhance transmission of the acoustic shock waves; placing an acoustic shock wave applicator on a surface of the skin tissue; and activating an acoustic shock wave generator or source to emit acoustic shock waves from an acoustic shock wave applicator.

Abstract: An actuator system includes a sleeve for accommodating an appendage of a user therein, actuators, and a power source. Each actuator includes a deformable shell defining a pouch including an enclosed internal cavity with a fluid dielectric contained therein, and first and second electrodes disposed over opposing sides of the pouch. The power source provides a voltage between the first and second electrodes. The sleeve includes features for distributing the actuators within the sleeve in a predetermined manner. Application of the voltage produces directional forces on the appendage. In embodiments, the first and second electrodes are disposed over the pouch such that, when the actuator is activated, the fluid dielectric is displaced in a length direction within the pouch, and the features in the sleeve may or may not align the actuators such that the length direction of the actuators are in alignment.

Abstract: An infant mattress assembly includes a box spring that is positionable on a bed frame for supporting the box spring above a floor. A mattress is attached to the box spring and an air chamber is integrated within the mattress. A plurality of vibration units is each attached to the mattress thereby facilitating the plurality of vibration units to vibrate air within the air chamber to soothe the child sleeping on the mattress. A heating element is integrated into the mattress for heating the mattress when the heating element is turned on to warm the child. A control unit is integrated into the box spring and the control unit is in remote communication with a personal electronic device thereby facilitating the personal electronic device to remotely control the vibration and the heating element.

Abstract: A method for treatment of a headache disorder in a human subject, including selecting at least one treatment area in the nasal cavity of the human subject, said treatment area being selected from a posterior part of the nasal cavity or an anterior part of the nasal cavity, providing a device including a stimulation member arranged for vibration stimulation of the selected treatment area, and at least one expansion member provided with a channel having a plurality of openings arranged for fluid communication with the stimulation member, introducing the stimulation member into a nasal cavity of the human subject, expanding the stimulation member to a volume such that the stimulation member abuts against the tissue to exert a pressure on tissue of the selected treatment area and bringing the stimulation member to vibrate in the nasal cavity to impart vibrations to the selected treatment area, wherein the vibrations are imparted to a posterior part of the nasal cavity, to an anterior part of the nasal cavity, sequentially to a posterior and an anterior part of the nasal cavity; or simultaneously to a posterior and an anterior part of the nasal cavity.

Abstract: Devices and methods for tissue treatment produce a mechanical stimulation therapy and electromagnetic field therapy. The mechanical stimulation therapy provides stimulation of blood circulation and stimulates treated cells. The electromagnetic field enables thermal treatment of tissue. Combination of both therapies improves soft tissue treatment, mainly connective tissue in the skin area and fat reduction.

Abstract: A patient support includes a mattress with an inflatable bladder, where the inflatable bladder has a cavity and an upper bladder wall forming an outwardly facing side for facing and supporting the patient on the patient mattress and forming an inwardly facing side facing into the cavity. The patient support further includes a light transmitter operable to emit light through the cavity to impinge on the inwardly facing side of the upper bladder wall and a light receiver operable to detect a reflection of the light off the inwardly facing side of the bladder wall, with the light receiver generating a signal responsive to detecting the reflection. A controller is in communication with the light transmitter and is operable to determine immersion of a patient into the mattress based on the signal from the light receiver.
