Abstract: Agricultural seed planting systems include a processing unit, a frame, a furrow opener coupled to the frame for opening a furrow in soil, and a sensor in communication with the processing unit and adapted to sense a characteristic associated with seed planting. The sensor may generate a signal associated with the sensed characteristic and the processing unit may receive the signal. In some aspects, the sensed characteristic may be either a soil characteristic or a seed characteristic. Information associated with the sensed characteristic can be saved in memory for future use and to assist with more effective planting in the future.

Abstract: A precision planter having a frame configured to transport the precision planter through a crop area, at least one hopper coupled to the frame, and a seed dispersion system coupled to the frame. The seed dispersion system comprises a first seed meter, a funnel, and a seed dispersion tube, each configured to receive a first seed mix, which may include one or more types of seeds and/or fertilizer. The system also includes a fan, a seed dispersion tube, a seed dispersion head, and a plurality of seed hoses configured to deliver the first seed mix to the crop area. The seed dispersion system is configured to implement a prescription map of the crop area including at least two cover crop zones corresponding to seed mix(es) and or fertilizer prescriptions, which are determined based on location data. The seed dispersion system is configured to dispense the first seed mix at a first seed dispersion rate in the first cover crop zone.

Abstract: A plug detection system for an agricultural system includes a controller configured to receive first sensor signals indicative of a set of upstream air pressures. The controller is configured to receive second sensor signals indicative of a set of downstream air pressures. The controller is configured to determine a downstream pressure variance based on the set of downstream air pressures. The controller is configured to determine a set of pressure drops based on the set of upstream air pressures and the set of downstream air pressures, and the controller is configured to determine a pressure drop variance based on the set of pressure drops. The controller is configured to determine a variance delta based on the pressure drop variance and the downstream pressure variance, and the controller is configured to identify an impending plugging condition in response to determining the variance delta is greater than a threshold value.

Abstract: Systems, implements, and methods for seed orientation during planting operations of agricultural plants include a system for seed orientation having a vision system positioned in proximity to a seed disk. A seed belt receives seed from the seed disk and the seed belt adjusts an orientation of the seed from the seed disk to a desired seed orientation within a furrow during planting.

Abstract: In one embodiment a first light plane is generated across the passageway by a first LED emitter array. A corresponding photodiode receiver array detects particles passing through a first number of light channels comprising the first light plane. In a second embodiment a second light plane is generated across the passageway at 90 degrees from the first light plane and longitudinally offset from the first light plane by a second LED emitter array. A corresponding photodiode receiver array detects particles passing through a second number of light channels comprising the second light plane. The second light plane is capable of identifying particles in a third dimension that may go undetected when passing through the first light plane. The raw output signals generated by respective photodiodes is normalized, analyzed and characterized to differentiate between particles passing through light planes as individual particles or groups of overlapping particles to be separately counted.
