Abstract:
A meter assembly for an agricultural machine includes a meter, a conduit, and a bypass. The meter includes a roller to move commodity to the conduit. The bypass is coupled to the conduit and the meter to facilitate air flow therebetween free of interference from the roller or the commodity.
Abstract:
An agitating system of an agricultural system includes a brace configured to couple to a sub-hopper of the agricultural system and a support configured to engage the brace and to support a shaft within the sub-hopper. The support includes a support piece having a first portion configured to receive the shaft and the brace has a recess configured to receive the first portion of the support piece while the support is in an installed configuration.
Abstract:
A material spreader has an auger drive assembly and a slinger disc that are simultaneously driven by a mule-drive assembly. The mule-drive assembly is configured to be connected to and powered by a power-take off drive of vehicle, such as a tractor. The auger drive assembly includes a concentric auger drive shaft disposed within a tubular auger shaft and a step-down gearbox. The auger drive shaft is connected to the input of the step-down gearbox and the tubular auger shaft is connected to the output of the same gearbox. This arrangement allows the tubular auger shaft to rotate at a slower speed than the auger drive shaft and provides a compact assembly of the material spreader.
Abstract:
A backpack spreader capable of spreading particulate matter in wide and pinpoint spray patterns. The spreader consists of a hopper having an outlet port, the hopper for holding chemical materials therein, and including a mechanism for agitating chemical materials therein, so as to keep chemical materials from sticking together. The agitation mechanism includes a main double ratchet assembly mounted within said hopper adjacent the outlet port. A hollow barrel is connected to the outlet port, the hollow barrel including aperture vanes. A manually-operated ring is externally mounted to the hollow barrel for adjusting the aperture vanes. The hopper is mountable on a back of a person. A flexible feed tube has a first end connected to the outlet port of the hopper. A dispensing gun is connected to a second end of the flexible feed tube, and is held and operated by a hand of the person. The dispensing gun held and operated by a hand of the person spreads the chemical materials over large areas or more narrow or pinpointed areas.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for subvehicularly accessed treatment of ground surfaces about a rail track occupied by a rail vehicle. A mobile treatment unit having a propulsion mechanism for subvehicular passage between the rails occupied by the rail vehicle includes a dispensing portion for expelling a treatment material therefrom onto regions of the ground surface about the rails. The mobile treatment unit is maneuverable between the rails and maintains height clearance for unobstructed passage beneath the occupying rail vehicle. At least one sensor unit is coupled to the mobile treatment unit, which acquires environmental feedback data about the mobile treatment unit. A control unit is operably linked to the mobile treatment and sensor units, and receives the environmental feedback data. The control unit controls actuation of the mobile treatment unit responsive to the environmental feedback and/or a maneuver control command.
Abstract:
The applicator system is designed to distribute agriculturally beneficial matter across a field. The system includes a supply reservoir and an agitator assembly that grates and abrades matter in the supply reservoir until the abraded matter precipitates out of the supply reservoir and onto a supply conveyor. The supply conveyor conveys the matter to a distribution device. The distribution device meters the matter onto at least two lateral distribution conveyors. At the end of each of the distribution conveyors the matter is funneled downwardly into an open trench created by a trenching device associated with each distribution conveyor. After the matter is deposited into the trench, a trench closing assembly directs soil back into the trench and compresses the soil surface.
Abstract:
A feed hopper system includes: a hopper defining a chamber, the chamber having a lower portion; a stirring member; and a rotary feeding member disposed below the stirring member, mounted rotatably in the lower portion of the chamber of the hopper, and including a rotor that has first and second axial end portions. The rotary feeding member further includes a plurality of angularly spaced apart first blades that radiate from the first axial end portion of the rotor, and a plurality of angularly spaced apart second blades that radiate from the second axial end portion of the rotor. The first and second blades are alternately disposed.
Abstract:
A granular material spreader is adapted for towing behind a yard tractor. A frame upports an inverted cone which is sized to contain a supply of granular material for distribution. The bin sweep rod is carried adjacent to the inside surface of the cone, and turns a drive spring. The drive spring drives a helix, which rotates about the bin sweep rod, driving the granular material toward the narrow base of the cone. Should the helix become jammed, the drive spring snaps past the helix, rather than risk damage by forcing its movement. A bin sweep drive wheel is also driven by the revolution of the bin sweep. Movement of the wheel against the an upper portion of the outside surface of the cone moves the bin sweep rod and helix in a circular path about the inside surface of the cone. A valve at the base of the cone allows granular material to drop into a housing which defines slots about portions of its perimeter. The blade support plate, rotating at the base of the housing, carries a plurality of blades, which drive the granular material through the slots and from the housing. The vane support plate, rotates just below the blade support plate carrying a plurality of vanes. Movement of the vanes throws the granular material ejected from the housing by the blades in a wide-spread and evenly distributed manner.
Abstract:
A protector for use in conjunction with a distributor for seed, plant and other fluent type material. The distributor includes a container for the fluent material and has a bottom portion having an opening therein. A shaft is connected to a rotatable material impeller and protrudes upwardly through the opening in the container bottom portion where the protector which is plate shaped is connected to the shaft adjacently above the opening. The plate rotates with the impeller shaft and causes the material within the container and coming into contact with the plate to be thrown laterally outwardly from the shaft and away from the opening in the container bottom portion.
