Abstract:
A test instrument can be coupled to a test point and measure signals in the network. The test instrument may determine whether the test instrument is connected to a cable of the network and provide notification if the test instrument is not connected to a cable. The test instrument may also detect when it is connected to a customer premises that has been previously been tested through reflected signal signatures.

Abstract:
Herein a control system (10) for controlling an internal combustion engine of a hand-held power tool (2) is disclosed. The control system (10) comprises an electronic control logic (24), a first and a second sensor (26, 28). A first conductive path (36) comprises the first sensor (26). A second conductive path (38) comprises the second sensor (28). The first and second conductive paths are connected to an input (40) of the electronic control logic (24). The first and second conductive paths are connected to a fixed voltage potential. The first conductive path (36) has a first electrical property and the second conductive path (38) has a second electrical property. The first electrical property and the second electrical property together are different from at least one of the first electrical property and the second electrical property, such that the electronic control logic (24) is able to detect different states.
Abstract:
A passive wireless tag assembly comprises a plurality of antennas and transmission lines interconnected with circuitry and constructed and arranged in a Van Atta array or configuration to reflect an interrogator signal in the direction from where it came. The circuitry may comprise at least one surface acoustic wave (SAW)-based circuit that functions as a signal reflector and is operatively connected with an information circuit. In another embodiment, at least one delay circuit and/or at least one passive modulation circuit(s) are utilized. In yet another embodiment, antennas connected to SAW-based devices are mounted to at least one of the orthogonal surfaces of a corner reflector.
Abstract:
A conveyor system having a conveyor path and friction drive spaced along the path to drive carriers along the path. Each friction drive is controlled by a drive controller, which communicates tracking, routing, and other information directly to other drive controllers within range via a wireless signal. The drive controllers may also directly communicate wirelessly with a central controller. If the central controller or a desired destination drive controller is out of range of a particular drive controller, that drive controller may communicate through other drive controllers until the desired destination drive controller is reached, or a drive controller that is within range of the central controller is reached.
Abstract:
To facilitate simultaneous PLC communication using first and second PLC protocols that are different from each other, frequency bands are dynamically assigned on demand to first and second PLC home networks that use the respective first and second PLC protocols.
Abstract:
An electronic apparatus for accessing an electronic multimedia content is provided. The electronic apparatus includes a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader and a transmitting circuit. The RFID reader is used for accessing network link information stored in an RFID tag attached to an object. The transmitting circuit is coupled to the RFID reader and downloads the electronic multimedia content via the Internet according to the network link information.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatus, and products for maintaining RFID information for virtual machines are disclosed that include establishing a virtual machine on a host computer, the host computer capable of supporting a plurality of virtual machines, the host computer comprising one or more RFID transponders; determining RFID information for the virtual machine; storing, in a specified one of the RFID transponders, the determined RFID information for the virtual machine; and upon request from an RFID reader, transmitting the stored RFID information as output from the specified RFID transponder to the requesting RFID reader.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device having luminescent display capabilities in accordance with various embodiments is provided with a machine accessible medium including instructions to receive data representing a set of one or more picture elements of an audience assisted image to facilitate coordinated display of a luminescent representation of a portion of the audience assisted image by the wireless communication device in cooperation with one or more additional wireless communication devices, as well as a processor to execute the instructions.
Abstract:
A wireless communication system includes a plurality of base stations, a plurality of base station controllers and a plurality of mobile switching centers. The plurality of base stations each support wireless communications within a respective cell and service load therein relating to subscribing units operating therein. Each of the base station controllers couples to a plurality of base stations and each of the mobile switching centers couples to at least one base station controller. The plurality of base station controllers and the plurality of mobile switching centers are managed to dynamically route load between the base station controllers and the mobile switching centers in an effort to equalize load on the plurality of mobile switching centers. At least one base station controller of the plurality of base station controllers may route its load to a first mobile switching center during a first period and route its load to the second mobile switching center during a second period. The first period and the second period may correspond to differing time periods and/or differing days. Such periods may be determined based upon historical loadings of the wireless communication system and simulation results. However, in other operations, the load is switched based upon actual system loading and the periods are determined according to the actual system loading. In other operations of the wireless communication system, a base station controller routes its load concurrently to both a first mobile switching center and a second mobile switching center of the plurality of mobile switching centers. In such operations, a first amount of load is routed to the first mobile switching center and a second amount of load routed to the second mobile switching center, such levels determined based upon loading of at least one of the first mobile switching center and the second mobile switching center.
