    摘要: An improved monitoring system for use with motor vehicles having a plurality of sensors for measuring the performance of the vehicle and a memory for storing information specifying data derived from the sensors. The invention includes a wireless communication link for transmitting the information to a terminal that is proximate to the vehicle. The terminal communicates information processed by the terminal to the operator of the vehicle. The present invention can be implemented by installing a connector into the standard scanner port on the vehicle. The connector includes a wireless link that emulates a connection to a conventional vehicle scanner by generating control signals on the appropriate conductors on the scanner port.

    摘要: Power line communications (nullPLCnull) technology components are included within a remote, isolated electric power generating system to provide that a single facility supplies electric power and high speed, broadband data communications access services over the same electric power network. The costs of deploying high speed, broadband data communications services in a remote, isolated community are reduced because minimal additional hardware and maintenance operations are required. The PLC technology permits a service provider to monitor and control electric power plant operating and security conditions and to obtain customer billing information concerning electric power consumption and high speed, broadband access services usage from a remote location via broadband data communication signals exchanged with the plant, thereby reducing operating costs and improving operating efficiencies.

    摘要: An automatic method for soil sampling and analysis is provided using a robotic vehicle. The vehicle includes a ground drive system for moving the robot over the field. A control unit controls the steering and location of the robot. A tool package on the robot has one or more probes for taking soil samples, which are conveyed to a miniature lab on the robot for analyzing the soil sample. A processor generates data from the soil analysis, and the data is transmitted to a remote site for storage and later use. The processor includes software for moving the robot, sampling the soil at desired targets, analyzing the soil, and communicating the data to the remote site.

    摘要: In an access control system, a method and system for dynamic channel selection to select a channel for communication between a Wireless Access Point Module (WAPM) and a Wireless Panel Interface Module (WPIM). A number of communication channels are available. The WAPM attempts to communicate over a first channel and selects a second channel if the first channel is unsuccessful. The WPIM scans all the available channels so that communication may be established regardless of the channel chosen by the system. Alternatively, the available channels may be segmented into groups and an individual WAPM may be assigned to a group of channels rather than a single channel.
