The coded data includes a plurality of layouts located in a region, each layout having n identical sub-layouts rotated 1/n revolutions apart about a center of rotation. Each layout encoding a first codeword formed from a sequence of n first symbols, with each sub-layout defining the position of a respective one of the first symbols such that the first codeword is indicative of the orientation of the layout. Each layout also partially encodes a third codeword at least partially indicative of an identity of the region such that the region identity may be determined from two or more of the layouts.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a process for providing an irregularly shaped Radio Frequency operable transaction device using conventional International Standards Organization dimensions for conventional transaction cards and traditional transaction card manufacturing machinery. The invention provides for normal manufacture of a plurality of transaction transporters joined together in a single sheet. The outline of a RFID transaction device is impressed in a center portion of one of the transporters. A RFID transaction device including a RFID module may then be removed, or punched out of the transporter in accordance with the transaction device outline. Alternatively, the RFID module may include an outline pressed into the transporter permitting removal of the module from the transporter independent of the removal of the transaction device. The RFID module may then be removed and used to complete a RFID transaction. The invention further includes a carrying case for securing the RFID module from loss or theft.

    摘要: Customer loyalty programs using portable data storage devices, e.g., smart cards, are described. Merchant terminals capable of reading and writing information to user smart cards are used to award points to customers based on a set of loyalty program information stored in the merchant terminal, at least some information read from the smart card, and information such as the purchase amount. Different terminals within a store maybe loaded with different loyalty program information allowing the program to be specific to a store department or location. Updating of loyalty program information from a server facilitates implementation of rapid changes in plans allowing plans to be modified or an hourly basis if desired as part of a particular promotion in a department. Bonus loyalty information is stored in the user device, eliminating any need to access a centralized location which stores point information to award and/or redeem loyalty awards.

    摘要: A radio frequency (RF) data carrier and method and system for reading information stored in the data carrier are presented. The data carrier comprises a collection of circuitries defining together a predetermined information code. Each circuitry includes: (a) a code circuit configured to have a certain RF frequency response to a powering signal and thus defining a certain symbol of the predetermined information code, and (b) a delay circuit configured to provide a phase delay of a predetermined value to said powering signal associated with the respective code circuit to thereby define a location of this symbol in the information code. The data carrier further comprises a power unit operable to produce said powering signal to actuate the delay circuit. The power unit comprises at least one inductance coil responsive to alternation of an external magnetic field for generating said powering signal as an electromotive force voltage as a result of intersecting windings of the coil with magnetic flux lines of the external magnetic field.
