    摘要: A method and apparatus for testing the geometry of a cathode ray tube raster scan under beam duty cycle variation. Alternate polarities of white on black and black on white images of a test pattern are displayed on the CRT screen, and the displacement of a reference point from one polarity to the other is measured to determine quantitatively the amount of displacement. Preferably, the pattern comprises a plurality of regularly arranged and spaced graphic elements, such as a bar, dot or dot grating pattern, wherein the pattern occupies a low percentage of the screen area. By alternately switching the polarity, the electron beam of the CRT undergoes wide swings in the amount of current it draws from the high voltage supply, and the amount of image displacement and size deviation can be readily measured.

    摘要: A video processing system especially for use with microprocessors or microcomputers characterized by limited memory storage capacity and processing capability. The video processing system includes a TRANSITION DETECTOR for detecting BLACK-TO-WHITE and WHITE-TO-BLACK transitions in a video signal, from whatever source. The output of the TRANSITION DETECTOR is coupled to a FEATURE COUNTER so that the FEATURE COUNTER provides at a computer buss an output indicative of the number of such transitions occurring during a particular horizontal scanning period. An output of the FEATURE COUNTER drives a DECODER that selectively enables a plurality of FEATURE TIMERS, each of which has an input coupled to a CLOCK so that the FEATURE TIMERS provide an output indicative of the time duration between successive transitions in the video signal. The video processing system thereby makes available to the microcomputer the number and respective durations of transitions during a horizontal scanning period. At the end of each horizontal line, this data is transferred via the computer buss into memory and the FEATURE COUNTER and FEATURE TIMERS are reset in preparation for the subsequent line. This cycle is repeated until an entire video frame has been encoded and transferred to the microcomputer for processing as desired.

    摘要: A video image compensator for inspection apparatus is presented for utilization in a system of the type in which an image of a workpiece is digitized and compared against stored data representing a workpiece of known acceptable quality. The invention compensates for instability, drift, and distortion inherently present in vidicons by providing a test pattern for periodic viewing by the vidicon, and providing therefrom data from which scale factors and image shift data can be generated. Subsequent live images of workpieces can then be scaled and shifted prior to correlation with the stored reference to compensate for instability, drift, and distortion of the vidicon. A mirror is used to alternately direct the field of view of the vidicon to either the test pattern or the workpiece target. In one embodiment, the mirror is made selectively transparent to allow the workpiece to be viewed, while in an alternate embodiment, the mirror is physically deflected from the vidicon's field of view.

    摘要: Container flaws are detected by repetitively sampling the output of a photosensor at a controlled rate dependent on the speed of inspection. Samples are digitized and stored in memory on a first in, first out basis. First in (oldest) and last in (newest) samples are used to provide a sliding computation of the slope or rate of change of the photosensor output. The computed slope is compared to an empirically determined preselected number. Containers are rejected or accepted based on the results of the comparison.

    摘要: A television base signal and test signal generator comprises a first memory for storing n eight-bit words (n being a positive whole number) located by a pair of indices (i, j) and a second memory for storing t four-bit words (t being a positive whole number) located by an index k. A first counter and a second counter supply respectively the index i associated with the word to be read in the first memory and the index k associated with the word to be read in the second memory. The index j associated with the word to be read in the first memory corresponds to the value of the four-bit word supplied by the second memory. The two memories are programmed so that at all times the eight bits of the word read in the first memory define entirely the desired base signals and test signals.

    摘要: To obtain a switching signal whenever a fault occurs in the synchronization signals of a video signal, a fault detection circuit has a counter which receives the signals to be tested at its clock input and reference signals at its control input. The reference signals have the same pulse frequency as the signals to be tested and are obtained from the signals to be tested by a change in keying ratio. The output of the counter is connected in its "clear" input and also, via a monostable flip-flop, to an input from an OR-gate. The other input of the OR-gate receives the reference signals via a diode and an RC-link. The desired switching signal is obtained at the output of the OR-gate.

    摘要: A television camera adjustment by means of a monitor picture is effected by forming a window area therein by means of which the camera operator directs the camera to a scene, the window area lines being used as an indication that an optimal adjustment has been achieved or as an indication for the operator that he must perform an adjustment procedure into one or into the other direction because it is not possible to obtain the optimal situation by means of surpassing a control range. With a color television camera the procedure can be used for a white balance adjustment combined in an advantageous manner with a black level adjustment.

    摘要: Circuitry implementing at least two amplitude level detectors and a method for monitoring their ability to track rapid changes in signal level is shown. The monitoring circuit uses a delay network to provide an indication that the detectors have not been driven into conduction during a specific interval of time. If this operation persists, a resetting circuit discharges the detector output filter network, thereby allowing the detectors to re-establish an output indicative of the present input signal level. A commutating circuit is shown which allows a single delay network to be used in conjunction with at least two level detectors.
