摘要: A modular nuclear reactor system includes a lift-out, replaceable nuclear reactor core configured for replacement as a singular unit during a single lift-out event, such as rather than lifting and replacing individual fuel assemblies and/or fuel elements. The system includes a reactor vessel and a power generation system configured to convert thermal energy in a high temperature working fluid received from the reactor vessel into electrical energy. The reactor vessel includes: a vessel inlet and an adjacent vessel outlet arranged near a bottom on the vessel; a vessel receptacle configured to receive a unified core assembly; locating datums in the base of the vessel receptacle and configured to constrain a core assembly in multiple degrees of freedom; and an interstitial zone surrounding the vessel receptacle and housing a set of control or moderating drums.

摘要: Systems and methods determine locations of moving equipment in an area holding components to be moved. Moving equipment can relocate relative to the holding area to pick up components in the holding area from an origin and deliver them to a desired location or orientation. The moving equipment includes a device emitting a signal that is detectable where it hits components or other structures in a straight line or known path from the moving equipment. A human or computer can determine a position the moving equipment in the holding area from such signals. Devices can operate with visible light generators including LEDs, incandescent or fluorescent bulbs, and lasers and including lenses or reflectors to shape the light into detectable and high fidelity configurations. Automation components including a hardware processor, controller, and detector can operate moving equipment based on detected light, without human interaction or as a verification in human operations.

摘要: A system for transferring fuel elements between an upper pool and a lower pool of a nuclear plant has a conveyor tube having an upper end in the upper pool and a lower end in the lower pool, formed below the upper end with a laterally open port, and extending between the ends at an acute angle to the vertical. A transport basket into which the fuel elements can be placed can be moved through the conveyor tube by a cable hoist having a cable winch outside the tube and a traction cable guided through the conveyor tube and out of the port and extending along and inside the tube. An upper blocking element can close the upper end of the conveyor tube. The cable port is preferably formed by a lateral hole in the conveyor tube preferably provided directly below the upper blocking element.

摘要: Systems and methods for refueling a nuclear reactor that has a reactor core in a reactor pool having a plurality of elongated reactor core components, a fuel pool for storing core components, and a transfer channel connecting the fuel pool to the reactor pool. The method includes retrieving a replacement core component from the fuel pool, and securing the replacement core component in a first compartment of a handover assembly in a vertical position. The method also includes retrieving a spent core component from the reactor core, and securing the spent core component in a second compartment of the handover assembly in a vertical position. The replacement core component is retrieved from the first compartment and installed into the reactor core. The spent core component is retrieved from the second compartment and stored in a storage rack in the fuel pool.

摘要: A fuel assembly locator for guiding and inserting nuclear fuel assemblies into a grid plate of a reactor vessel during reload. In the preferred embodiment, the fuel assembly locator includes a plurality of generally trapezoidal guides each having a multiplicity of serially increasing tiered slope regions for gradually directing the fuel assembly precisely into a grid plate opening. The increasing slope regions allow greater positional tolerance between the exterior of the fuel assembly and the interior opening of the grid plate opening initially, thus requiring less time and precision to align the fuel assembly with respect to the grid plate opening. The tolerance then gradually decreases since the slope of each successive tier is greater than the previous tier, thus precisely directing the fuel assembly into alignment with the grid plate opening for insertion therein.

摘要: A camera mast system permits remote inspection of nuclear fuel assemblies and other components of nuclear reactors. The system includes a camera mast assembly mounted on a refueling mast which may be positioned over a selected fuel assembly in the reactor core. An extendable camera mast having a camera mounted thereon moves vertically with respect to a stationary camera mast and the refueling mast in order to allow for visual inspection of various components in the reactor core. The camera mast assembly preferably includes a video cable take-up mechanism for handling the camera video cable as the extendable camera mast is moved up and down. The camera mast assembly is preferably removably mounted on the refueling mast in order to aid in installation and removal. The removable mounting also allows the camera mast assembly to be used independently of the refueling mast. The camera mast assembly may optionally include an extendable fuel assembly guide mast including a guide member which facilitates placement of fuel assemblies within the reactor core. The extendable guide mast is preferably rotatably mounted on the refueling mast. In another embodiment, a guide mast assembly is mounted on the refueling mast, including an extendable guide mast having a fuel assembly guide member mounted thereon for aligning the fuel assemblies in the reactor core.

摘要: A transfer system moves fuel assemblies along a track extending through a transfer tube within a containment wall in a nuclear power plant between the auxiliary building side and the containment building side. A car carries a basket for the assemblies. Two winches are located on the auxiliary building side above the water level existing over the track during refueling operations. The winches operate respective pairs of cables, driving the car in either direction. Four sheaves respectively direct the cables to the horizontal direction along the track. One pair of cables is secured to a yoke on the car to drive the car away from the containment building. Two horizontal sheaves are located near the containment end of the transfer tube. The other two cables extend horizontally along the track from the vertical sheaves to the horizontal sheaves, redirecting them to extend horizontally in the reverse direction. These return cables are secured to the yoke to drive the car toward the containment building. The winches are operated under the control of a programmable limit switch to move the car selectively between one end position in which the car is within the auxiliary building, and the other end position in which the car is principally within the containment building with at least the car yoke located over the track within the transfer tube and to the auxiliary building side of the horizontal sheaves.

摘要: In order to place in sealed communication two reactor containments provided with openings capable of having a displacement between their axes, an assembly (12) is placed between the flanges (B.sub.1, B.sub.2) delimiting these openings, said assembly comprising two mobile linking parts (30a, 30b) according to a common axis, these parts bearing lip seals (36a, 36b) coming to take sealed support on the flanges under the action of a control (52) and springs (44) mechanism. Two double doors (14a, 14b) can be placed inside the openings and the linking parts in order to ensure separation of the containments. These double doors are formed of doors (16a, 18a, 16b, 18b) interconnected by means of magnets (62a, 64a, 62b, 64b) authorizing a certain relative sliding.
