    Abstract: The present application provides an optical filter, and a test assembly and method for a smoke detector. The optical filter comprises: a support; and a screen supported by the support, wherein the screen is composed of wires and mesh holes are defined between the wires, and the screen has a first side and a second side opposite to each other; wherein, the smoke detector comprises a light transmitter and a light receiver arranged in vicinity and an light reflector arranged opposite to the light transmitter and the light receiver, such that light emitted by the light transmitter is reflected to the light receiver via the light reflector; and wherein, during testing, the optical filter is arranged in both the light path from the light transmitter to the light reflector and the light path from the light reflector to the light receiver.

    Abstract: A smoke detector comprising an enclosure communicating with an external environment, within the enclosure a light source illuminating a detection volume in a first wavelength band and a light-sensor responding to light from the sensing volume in a second wavelength band. The detector is configured to sense photo-luminescent fire products, particularly polyaromatic compounds, and actuate an alarm when signal levels indicate a dangerous/fire condition is present. The photo-luminescence detector may be combined with optical scatter or other fire detectors to improve discrimination between fires and false alarm sources.

    Abstract: A smoking detection device with tamper countermeasures is disclosed. A smoking detection circuit includes a smoke and gas sensor is configured to detect a smoking event within an enclosed space of a property, such as a vehicle or a hotel room. Tamper countermeasures prevent a renter from interfering with the detection function of the smoking detection device. The device also includes an event recording element that provides an evidentiary backup in the event of a power failure of the smoking detection device. The event recording element includes a light emitter that is triggered by one or more of smoking detection event and a tamper event. The light emitter exposes a patch of photo sensitive material, that once exposed provides for a visual means of identifying a smoking event or a tamper event during a rental period.

    Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure provide a smoke detection method and apparatus. The apparatus includes a processor configured to detect foreground blobs in images of a plurality of frames in a video; determine motion areas of detected foreground blobs; determine a first degree of overlapping of the foreground blobs in images of at least two frames, and/or determine a second degree of overlapping of the foreground blobs and motion areas to which the foreground blobs correspond; determine interfering foreground blobs according to the first degree of overlapping and/or the second degree of overlapping; and extract features from motion areas of remaining foreground blobs with the interfering foreground blobs being removed, and detect smoke according to the features. With the embodiments of this disclosure, accuracy of smoke detection may be increased, and false detection resulted from such interfering objects as water blobs, or light spots, etc., may be avoided.

The pneumatic heat detector includes a sealed chamber sealed with a diaphragm having an initial position, and the optical fiber is in operable communication with the diaphragm. The optical fiber includes an FBG. The optical signal generator is configured to emit an optical signal with into the optical fiber. The photodetector is configured to receive a reflected optical signal from the FBG. The processing unit is configured to correlate the reflection wavelength of the reflected optical signal with a temperature of the heat detector.
