    摘要: In order to display a measured value, a digital measuring instrument is provided with a digital display and an analog display. The display value emitted by the digital display is fixed during a predetermined holding time. The analog display displays the difference between the current measured value and the particular display value of the digital display at the time. The current measured value may be read off at the beginning of a new holding time on the digital display, or it can be ascertained as the sum of the values of the digital and analog displays.

    摘要: Apparatus for selectively measuring voltage, resistance, and time durationf an event, each of which is associated with an electrical network, includes a device for providing a first train of digital pulses, the frequency of the pulse train being related to an analog voltage coupled thereto. The measuring apparatus also includes a clock for generating a second train of digital pulses of fixed frequency, and a constant current source to be coupled to a resistive element being measured by the apparatus. The apparatus further includes counters selectively receiving one of the digital pulse trains for counting the number of pulses received during a selected time period, and for providing a digital output in which the value of a quantity measured by the apparatus is encoded. A display coupled to the counter provides a visible numerical display of a measured value at the conclusion of the selected time period, and control means couples a plurality of binary control signals to the counters to determine the duration of each time period.

    摘要: In the ion gauge system disclosed herein, the ion current obtained from an ion gauge tube is directly converted to a signal having a frequency proportional to the ion current so that a digital measurement of vacuum may be obtained. The ion current charges an integrating capacitor which is periodically discharged after reaching a preselected threshold. Preferably, the threshold is adjusted in proportion to the ion gauge emission current so that automatic compensation for variation in the emission current is obtained, the output frequency being proportional to the ratio of the ion current to the emission current. The variable frequency output signal generated by the integration and discharge process is counted by a scaling circuit which automatically changes the timing interval to provide the desired number of significant figures while incrementing the exponent value in a scientific notation display in keeping with the active time base.

This is achieved by providing slow-acting feedback to the integrating circuit for increasing resolution.     摘要: This disclosure relates to a superconducting circuit means that may be utilized as an ultra-high sensitivity voltmeter or a generator generating a voltage having a substantially constant amplitude. It comprises a superconductive material having a weak link positioned therein with means for applying a voltage of unknown magnitude across the weak link. An oscillator has its output coupled to the weak link so that the output signal of the oscillator generates an oscillating current through it. The voltage of unknown magnitude causes an oscillating current to be generated through the weak link with a frequency proportional to the unknown magnitude of the voltage. The weak link mixes the frequency of the two currents and a demodulating means detects the frequency of the oscillating current produced by the voltage of unknown magnitude. When the circuit means is to be employed as a voltmeter, a frequency meter may be connected to the demodulating means which has a scale readable in voltage units. If the circuit means is to be employed as a generator of a voltage having a substantially constant amplitude, a standard frequency may be fed to a comparator that also receives the output from the demodulating means. The output from the comparator may be fed back through suitable means to the weak link and the amplitude of the voltage having a substantially constant magnitude may be read out across a circuit component connected to the superconducting material.

    摘要: A digital multimeter includes a microprocessor control and a keyboard input. The microprocessor functions to control the display of parameters measured by the meter and displays such measured parameters. The keyboard includes switches to allow the user to select a parameter which is desired to be measured as well as a range of values for that parameter for use in measuring parameters of a device under test connected to the multimeter. The microprocessor communicates with the keyboard and functions to control a resistor and switch network to configure the multimeter to test selected parameters within selected ranges. The multimeter incorporates an overload protection function which compensates for an over-large voltage on the input leads of the multimeter, thus preventing damage to the circuit and to the multimeter.

Analog signals sent from the measuring device can be indicated digitally and the digital values indicated can be held by a simple, inexpensive and miniaturizable construction.
