Abstract:
A disk analog display for a solid state electricity meter includes a series of segments that illuminate sequentially to indicate the direction of current flowing through the meter and the rate at which energy is being consumed by the load. The sequential illumination provides notice to a technician that the meter is completing the measurement of one energy consumption unit so that the measurement by the meter of one energy consumption unit can be accurately timed. In one embodiment, there are three segments that illuminate sequentially to indicate that the meter is completing measurement of one energy consumption unit. The segments then simultaneously blank to indicate that the meter has completed the measurement of one energy consumption unit.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for calibrating tester timing accuracy during testing of integrated circuits. An ATE tester measures itself through reference blocks that have the same relevant dimensions as the integrated circuits to be tested. The number of reference blocks required is equal to the number of signal terminals on an integrated circuit to be tested being subject to timing calibration. A signal trace electrically connects a different signal terminal to a common reference terminal on each reference block. Each signal trace used should be closely matched both physically and electrically to the other signal traces used in the set of reference blocks, so that the electrical path length associated with each trace is nearly identical. To perform the timing calibration, the reference blocks may be mounted on a single fixture one at a time, or using multi-site fixtures, multiple reference blocks may be used in parallel. The fixture provides electrical connection of the reference block to the loadboard, and ultimately, the tester.

An improved inner component board arrangement and corresponding assembly for an electric utility meter is disclosed The enhanced structure offers comprehensive stability and protection of circuit boards and corresponding electronic components within an integrated meter assembly. The arrangement generally includes at least two printed circuit boards housed in a casing structure. Various projections extend from the casing structure to effectively position and secure the printed circuit boards within an overall component assembly, Specific projections employed for positioning the circuit boards include tapered locator pins and respective mating holes as well as key projections that interconnect with slots located in selected circuit boards. Snaps project from casing components to securely constrain the circuit boards within the component assembly. Established orientation of various components and projections significantly facilitates the meter assembly process.
Abstract:
A device and a method of metering and displaying immediate and/or accumulated energy consumption at a place of consumption, such as electricity, water or heating consumption in a household, said device comprising a recording unit which records and sums an immediate energy consumption on the basis of regular measurements and stores there measurements for the calculation of an average consumption, a display comprising at least one display unit capable of displaying the relationship between an accumulated energy consumption and the calculated average consumption for a selected period of time on a percentage scale. The display preferably exhibits a first display unit which displays the accumulated energy consumption on an energy scale preferable from 0-200%, where 100% corresponds to the calculated average consumption, and a second display unit which may show the immediate power consumption relative to a selected reference consumption, preferably on a percentage power scale of 0-100%, where the selected reference consumption, which corresponds to 80% on the power scale. A consumption meter according to the invention hereby ensures that the user is more easily motivated to cut down on the energy consumption because of e.g. an energy saving measure, such as the use of low-energy bulbs in one or more lamps or the like.
Abstract:
To minimize the outlay for circuit engineering in a measuring system having at least one measuring instrument for measuring power and/or power factors at least one measuring point in an a.c. voltage network, a voltage transformer device having in each case one voltage transformer for each phase of the a.c. voltage network is arranged at a voltage-detection site of the a.c. voltage network. In addition, a current transformer for each phase is arranged at each measuring point, and to connect a measuring instrument assigned is connected to the particular measuring point at a current transformer input. The voltage transformer device and all measuring instruments are interconnected via a shared data-transmission device, in which predefined information on the detected voltages is digitally transmitted to the measuring instruments.
Abstract:
A device for measuring power, or other circuit parameters, of an alternating current load. The device has an ammeter and voltmeter for measuring voltage across the load and current through the load. The device also has a known impedance element that is switchably connected across the load. The ammeter is used to provide a second current measurement with the impedance so connected. These measurements, together with the known impedance value, are used to calculate power, the power factor, impedance, or some other parameter associated with the load. The same device may also be implemented circuitry that is the “dual” of that described above, such that voltage rather than current measurements are used.
