    摘要: A gas concentration monitor has a pneumatic bridge having two parallel flowpaths containing a first conduit leg and a second conduit leg connected to an input line. Each leg has an entry orifice and an exit orifice through which a portion of the gas sample flows. Orifices need not be of equal size and or kept at the same temperature. A pump is connected to both legs for drawing the sample through the bridge. A condenser or absorber which removes the gas whose concentration is being determined is connected to the first leg between the entry orifice and the exit orifice. A differential pressure gauge measures the differential pressure between the first leg and the second leg which differential pressure changes due to removal of the target gas of measurement interest from the other gas fraction passing through the bridge towards discharge from the bridge. From that measurement one can calculate the concentration in the sample of the gas that was removed by the condenser or absorber.

    摘要: A system and method for preconcentrating, identifying, and quantifying chemical and biological substances is disclosed. An input valve directs a first volume of a sample gas to a surface acoustic wave (SAW) device. The SAW device preconcentrates and detects a mass of a substance within the sample gas. An output valve receives a second volume of the sample gas containing the preconcentrated substance from the SAW device and directs the second volume to a gas chromatograph (GC). The GC identifies the preconcentrated substance within the sample gas. A shunt valve exhausts a volume of the sample gas equal to the first volume minus the second volume away from the SAW device and the GC. The method of the present invention includes the steps of opening an input valve for passing a first volume of a sample gas to a SAW device; preconcentrating and detecting a mass of a substance within the sample gas using the SAW device; opening an output valve for passing a second volume of the sample gas containing the preconcentrated substance to a gas chromatograph (GC); and then identifying the preconcentrated substance within the sample gas using the GC.

    摘要: A gas chromatograph measures the gas concentration levels of fault gases contained in the gas within a headspace above the electrical insulating oil supply contained in a power transformer. An on-line fault detection system involves gas samples taken from transformers at a utility site in sequence with automatically controlled timer valves which open to draw a gas sample from each transformer headspace and then transfer the gas directly to a single gas chromatograph. The gas chromatograph includes an integrator which calculates the concentration level of each fault gas in the gas sample. The resulting fault gas data are fed to a computer programmed with a partition function based on Henry's Law to convert the headspace fault gas data to fault gas concentration levels within the transformer oil. This produces gas fault analysis data which are used to provide an early warning of specific transformer problems correlated to, indicative of and detected by excessive dissolved fault gas concentration levels in the oil identified with particular transformer faults. The invention avoids costly and time consuming prior art analysis techniques of extracting fault gases from the oil sample in an independent operation before the concentration levels can be measured.

    摘要: A nut assembly for use on an injection switch for a chromatograph has a nut surrounded by a moveable member which is disposed to travel co-linearly with respect to the axis of the nut. The moveable member is biased so that its upper end extends above the nut to engage the body of a sample syringe. Upon engagement with the sample syringe the moveable member moves downwardly against the bias means. The bias means then triggers the microswitch. Upon withdrawal of the needle of the sample syringe the moveable member returns to its original position.

    摘要: Apparatus for automatically analyzing a gas sample to determine the concentration of an absorbable gas therein, such as carbon dioxide in a patient's out breath. In the preferred embodiment, the end tidal volume of the patient's out breath is automatically sampled, drawn into a sample cylinder, circulated through an absorber, and the volumetric reduction effected by the absorption of the absorbable gas measured by a pressure indicator, all of which is cycled by the normal respiration cycle of the patient through an end of breath detector mechanism. The end of breath detector mechanism may also be used as a gas flow meter generally.

    摘要: A system for measuring on-line the energy content and flow of a gas mixture within a pipeline. The system includes a gas chromatograph for producing a time varying signal related to the component composition of the gas mixture. The pressure and temperature of the gas mixture is measured and these signals as well as the time varying signal from the chromatograph are converted to digital form. These signals are applied to control means which produces energy and flow rate signals of the gas mixture in the pipeline based on the on-line pressure, temperature and component composition. These signals are corrected by supercompressibility factor signals as a function of component composition.
