Abstract: A lightweight and rigid stand for supporting a heliostat includes multiple legs that extend between a lower end and upper end. A bracket or knuckle couples to an upper end of the legs and can support a heliostat thereon so that the bracket or knuckle is disposed between the upper end of the legs and the heliostat. A dimensional spacing or angular orientation between the legs is maintained by the backet or knuckle and/or bridge portions that extend between linear portions of the legs. Lower ends of the legs can be embedded in a ballast mass.

Abstract: Structures and techniques for solar collectors are described. In accordance with the described techniques, a structural assembly of a solar collector may include various members that are configured to carry torsional and bending loads with relatively low deflections between a reflector and a receiver. In some examples, the described structural assemblies may include a set of edge-sharing tetrahedra or tetrahedral volumes aligned along an axis, which may be supported by chord members that are parallel to the axis. In some examples, the described structural assemblies may include sets of co-rotating and counter-rotating helical structural paths, which may be connected or supported by structural members that are perpendicular to an axis of the helical structural paths, or members that are parallel to an axis of the helical structural paths, or various combinations thereof.

Abstract: A tiered mounting system includes a base plate including a mounting guide rail having a plurality of mounting grooves that extend along opposing sides of the guide rail. The system also includes an object mount connector having a plurality of mounting ridges. The object mount connector is configured to: slidingly engage the mounting guide rail via insertion of one or more of the plurality of mounting ridges within a corresponding one or more of the plurality of mounting grooves, and lock in place along the mounting guide rail via a bolt placed through the object mount connector and secured tightly to an inner track of the mounting guide rail.

Abstract: A mounting system for supporting a plurality of photovoltaic modules on a support surface, such as a low-sloped roof, is disclosed herein. The mounting system includes a plurality of telescoping tubular members configured to support photovoltaic modules on a support surface, and configured to be adjustably attached to one another so as to accommodate undulations and uneven regions of the support surface, and at least one of the plurality of telescoping tubular members comprising an arched portion so as to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction. In another embodiment, a plurality of strut members are used to support the modules. In yet another embodiment, a plurality of support members adjustably support one or more photovoltaic modules on a support surface so that the one or more photovoltaic modules are capable of passively tilting in response to external forces acting thereon and/or a heat source, such as the sun, acting thereon.
