Abstract: Systems and apparatus for a water fountain that converts turbulent flow of a fluid to laminar flow. The water fountain may include a basin, a fluid distribution port, at least one water support, a fluid distribution media, and an annular scupper. The fluid distribution port may be located within the basin above the bottom and between the circular inner wall and the outer wall. The at least one water supply port may extend through the bottom and coupled to the fluid distribution port. The fluid distribution media may be located within the basin, between the circular inner wall and the outer wall, and above the fluid distribution port. The annular scupper may be located on top of the inner wall and capable of applying a surface tension to a fluid to thin the fluid into a continuous laminar sheet downward in a circular cascade sheet into a cascade chamber.

Abstract: An electronic fountain candle, comprising a transparent or semitransparent outer cylinder (9), a battery compartment, a flow-guiding cover (10), an LED/water pump assembly (4), and a control board (3). A water storage chamber is located at the interior wall of the outer cylinder (9), above the bottom of the battery compartment. The LED/water pump assembly (4) is mounted inside the water storage chamber, and comprises: an LED-PCB board (42) for an LED, as well as a water pump (43) and a water drainage pipe (41). The LED-PCB board (42) is waterproofed, and the water outlet of the water pump (43) is connected to the water drainage pipe (41). The flow-guiding cover (10) is provided with a flow-guiding hole, and the water drainage pipe (41) is in communication with the flow-guiding hole. The peripheral edge of the flow-guiding cover (10) is lower than the upper end face of the outer cylinder (9), and there is a gap, used for draining water, between the flow-guiding cover (10) and the inner wall of the outer cylinder (9). The control board (3) is mounted inside the battery compartment, and the LED/water pump assembly (4) is electrically connected to the control board (3).

Abstract: A system that illuminates water in a water display in broad daylight is described. The system may include a color filter that directs a desired color or range of colors onto the water. The source of light may be the sun or an artificial light source. Where the light source is the sun, a heliostat may be included to track the sun and reflect sunlight to the color filter. Other reflecting mirrors may be included to provide a line of sight between the light source and water display being illuminated.

Abstract: Plastic grid or framework arrangements are used to support and position of bowls that hold flower arrangements, candles, letters, and other decorative elements. These grids are deployable in water fountains, indoor and outdoor pools, and other small bodies of water during festive occasions or for longer term decorative display. The grid themselves do not float, and are positioned below the surface of the water, and thus are not readily visible. Buoyancy is provided at the hubs that form nodes in the grids. The hubs also support floating bowls containing various decorative elements. The resulting effect is that the various decorative elements appear to be floating on the surface while the sub-surface grid structure maintains their relative positioning, keeping the bowls from clumping together at the edges or in the corners of the pool or fountain.

The water streams may be pixelated so as to provide a high resolution waveform or other choreography. The choreography transitions between waveforms to provide the appearance of a cascading or undulating wave. A tool to design the water display and simulate its appearance is also described.
