Disclosed is two-tier fountain with a continuous scupper. A continuous scupper is a 360-degree, unrestricted border (i.e., continuous), scupper in an upper basin that creates an inward flowing laminar sheet of fluid. A continuous scupper maintains a laminar flow for great distances so that the fluid falls in a circular cascade sheet. On reaching the lower basin, the fluid creates a limited amount of turbulence during entry and therefore a reduced splash. The continuous scupper may be circular, or may have simple to complex variations that create different forms of circular cascade sheets. The upper basin may be open to the atmosphere, or may be closed to create even more spectacular circular cascade sheets.

An underwater light apparatus includes a light assembly for providing light. An elongate support member having proximal and distal ends can be included. The distal end of the elongate support member can be secured to the light assembly. A mounting bracket can be included for mounting to a surface. The elongate support member can be vertically slidably mounted to the mounting bracket for vertically lowering and raising the elongate support member and the light assembly into water for providing underwater illumination, and out of water for maintenance.

An electronic ballast mounting arrangement for HID luminaires on a vertical pole for sports lighting is disclosed. The mounting arrangement comprises an elongate channel to which a weather tight enclosure is fixedly secured. Electronic ballast units are provided in pairs immediately above and/or below the enclosure. Male/female connectors are arranged between end plates of the electronic ballast units and exterior panels of the enclosure so that electrical connections between the ballast units and components on the interior of the enclosure can be made without exposed cables simply by sliding partially pre-mounted ballast units a limited distance toward the adjacent enclosure panel to mate the complemental parts of the connectors, after which the fasteners holding the ballast units to the support are tightened down. A cable using wires with a high-strand count extends through a nipple screwed into a hollow pole from the interior of the weather proof enclosure into the center of the pole and runs upwardly through the pole to the luminaires mounted on one or more cross arms on the top of the pole. A Kelem grip hanger is used to support the cable and relieve tension on the electrical connections between the cable and the luminaires.

Light fixtures having a plurality of light-emitting diodes that maximize the amount of direct light into an intended area. The light fixture may include a carriage with a first (top) end and a second (bottom) end. A hood may be mounted to the first end of the carriage. At least one light engine comprising a plurality of light sources is mounted to the hood. The light sources emit light downwardly directly onto an intended area. In certain embodiments the second end of the carriage is shaped and sized so that it does not interfere with emission of the light to the intended area. The light fixture thus provides light in a thermally efficient manner, maximizes the amount of direct light, and limits the amount of light pollution.

The three lightweight materials, of metal, wire and/or plastic, are all derived from six modular pieces that slot and/or join together with lightweight metal or plastic rods. These inexpensive units can be grouped, are portable and disposeable. Designed, used and installed per current National Electrical Code, lamp light bulb socket/wire/wall plug assembly is packaged separately, and/or sold with/without accessories separately. Packages, posters, postcard, logos, light units and all designs and colors are with the digital world in mind: R 255+G 255+B 255=white light.

The illumination pattern is formed by making light in a first wavelength region diffracted in a first region, and the illumination pattern is formed by making light in a second wavelength region different from the first wavelength region diffracted in a second region on the same plane as the first region.

A gas burning power supply section 10 for igniting gas includes a secondary battery and a solar battery for charging the secondary battery, and the operating voltage from the power supply section 10 is supplied to a gas ignition circuit 30, a flame detection circuit 50 for detecting the flame after the gas is ignited, and a solenoid valve-controlling timer circuit 60 for controlling the gas supply. A day/night discrimination circuit 100 is provided in association with the power supply section 10, and the ignition circuit 30, the flame detection circuit 50 and the timer circuit 60 are individually set in operation in accordance with a day/night discrimination output during the nighttime. In the event the flame of burning gas goes out halfway, the timer circuit 60 operates to perform a trial including reigniting operation, and if the reigniting fails during a trial period, the gas supply is automatically shut off.
