    摘要: A triple action, multi-segment, telescoping hydraulic ram comprising a plurality of coaxially nested, extensible cylinders adapted to be selectively extended or retracted, and a pair of lower diameter, sweep cycle cylinders adapted to be operated independently of the larger cylinders. The ram is ideal for the garbage reception area defined within the cargo area of conventional garbage trucks, for operating the compression platen for moving and compacting garbage. A terminal pin eye associated with the smaller sweep cycle cylinder may be coupled to a stationary support to rigidly brace the ram. Full extension and "sweep cycle" operation is effectuated through various input passageways defined in the pin eye through which high pressure hydraulic fluid is inputted to the ram in conjunction with various annular transmittal passageways to effectuate cylinder operation. A plurality of generally coaxial, reduced diameter internal tubes which are concentric with the operable cylinders provide a means of bridging the sweep cycle cylinders to the others. An internal retract tube, a coaxially centered piston center tube, and an internal piston slider tube which floats within the apparatus and communicates between the piston center tube and a spaced apart stationary feeder tube function to effectuate the sweep cycle phenomena of the instant cylinder, and prevent sweep cycle operation during the normal extension cycle.

    摘要: A servo-control valve for a linear hydraulic motor wherein the control valve piston is isolated from the side loading of a cam and roller by employing a cam follower plunger, as a separate detached element coaxial with the piston. The valve piston and the cam follower plunger are maintained in intimate contact due to the constant back pressure applied by the hydraulic system. The plunger is encased in a cylindrical array of balls which are preloaded between the plunger and the piston chamber walls such that the plunger experiences essentially only rolling friction, but no sliding friction, as the plunger moves. This form of preloading of the balls eliminates the backlash associated with clearance around the plunger.

    摘要: A three-position pneumatic tool having a toggle trigger for actuating a control rod which in turn controls a pair of pneumatic check-valves. Three interconnected, tandemly arranged piston assemblies are operatively associated with an air pressure source at one end while also being operatively associated with a work assembly at the other end. The trigger is spring-biased to a location wherein the tool is in a neutral workpiece engaging position. Actuation of the trigger in one direction will open one of the pneumatic valves whereupon air pressure acts upon the upper surface of one of the pistons so as to lower or retract the tool to a workpiece insertion position. Release of the trigger permits the tool to attain the workpiece engaged or neutral position. Rotation of the trigger in the opposite direction permits the other pneumatic valve to open whereupon air pressure acts upon the lower surfaces of all the pistons so as to raise and actuate the tool to the operating position.

    摘要: A three-stage hydraulically-operated telescopic prop is disclosed having working chambers which can be charged with hydraulic pressure fluid to extend a central prop member relative to an outer prop member and an inner prop member relative to the central member. A pressure-operated spring biased non-return valve is operated by pressure to open communication between the working chambers to extend the inner member once the central member has been fully extended. The valve is also operated mechanically to open communication between the working chambers to allow retraction of the inner member when the central member has been retracted to a certain extent. Further chambers are provided between the central and outer member, and between the central and inner member, and these chambers can be charged with hydraulic pressure fluid to retract the central member relative to the outer member and the inner member relative to the central member. Guide bushings with sealing and/or packing rings are secured to the upper ends of the outer and central members to locate and guide the central and inner members during their movement.
