摘要: The present disclosure discloses an earthen dam structure including a core wall that includes a homogeneous mixture of clay, sand, powdered tire rubber and Portland cement. Additionally, the core wall contains the powdered tire rubber in an amount sufficient to increase a modulus of elasticity of the core wall to over 10 MPa while keeping a hydraulic conductivity of the core wall under 100 feet/year. The earthen dam structure further includes an upstream embankment portion and a downstream embankment portion, each positioned adjacent to the core wall, and a spillway configured to prevent water from overtopping a crest of the core wall.

摘要: The present invention relates to a molded pile (e.g., 17) that includes a unitary elongated body (52) and an elongated tube (142) residing longitudinally within the elongated body (52). The elongated body (52) includes first (151) and second (154) exterior elongated plates that are spaced apart and opposed to each other. The elongated body (52) also includes a plurality of internal ribs (157) interposed between and being continuous with the first (151) and second (154) exterior elongated plates. The internal ribs (157) together define a plurality of apertures (67) and an elongated passage (160) that extends the length of the elongated body (52). The elongated tube (142) resides within the elongated passage (160), and provides fluid communication between upper (145) and lower (148) ends of the elongated body. Passage of a high pressure fluid (e.g., water and/or air) through elongated tube 142 results in fluidization of a penetrable material (e.g., soil) into which the lower portion (58) of the elongated body (52) is driven. The apertures (67) are dimensioned to receive fluidized penetrable material therein, thereby anchoring the lower portion (58) of the elongated body (52) within the penetrable material (178). The present invention also relates to a method of installing or anchoring the molded pile in a penetrable material (178).

摘要: Anchoring arrangements for structures such as offshore towers. Wedges which fit down into spaces defined by downwardly converging surfaces fixed to the structure and to an anchor member, respectively, are held in frictional locking engagement by means of bias weights. Two sets of wedge type interlocks are provided in longitudinally displaced relationship and are arranged in reverse order so that downward bias forces on the wedges serves to provide locking against relative movement in opposite longitudinal directions.

摘要: Rubbish is disposed of by drilling a plurality of large vertical holes in a large area of land having relatively firm soil. Small charges of loose rubbish are dumped into each hole. After each charge is dumped, the rubbish is compacted, as by hammering and/or downward compression. The area may then be covered with soil. To provide stability, the holes are drilled to a point above the water table, and adjacent holes are spaced and separated by a substantial mass of soil.

摘要: A plant for the manufacture of floating concrete structures in open and substantially unsheltered bodies of water, comprising a concrete ring floating in the water with its axis normally substantially vertical and its upper end above the water surface. The wall structure of the concrete ring includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced, pressure-tight, preferably cylindrical cavities extending in the axial direction of the ring. At least some of these cavities are adapted to serve as ballast and trimming tanks which can be filled with water to a variable extent, whereby the buoyancy, the floatation height and the attitude of the concrete ring in the water can be controlled. The total volume of the cavities is such that the total displacement of the concrete ring exceeds substantially the total dead-weight of the ring. The water area enclosed by the concrete ring is efficiently protected against wave motions, currents and winds, wherefore the manufacture of floating concrete structures can take place in this water area substantially without any disturbances from weather forces. The upper ring-shaped end of the floating concrete ring supports all those apparatuses, equipments, devices and facilities that are necessary for the production, such as concrete mixing stations, cranes, elevators, conveyors, electric power plants, compressed air plants, pump stations, control stations for the control of the ballast and trimming tanks of the concrete ring, workshops, crew spaces etc. Some of the large cavities in the wall structure of the floating ring can also be used as store spaces for materials necessary for the production, such as cement, gravel, sand, reinforcement materials etc. The concrete ring is moored through a large number of mooring ropes to an anchor resting upon the bottom of the body of water. The anchor consists preferably of a concrete ring having a wall structure including a plurality of circumferentially spaced, sealed, pressure-tight cavities adapted to serve as ballast tanks which can be filled with water to a variable extent for determining the total weight of the anchor ring and thus the anchoring force thereof. Preferably, the total volume of the ballast tanks in the anchor ring is such that the displacement of the anchor ring in the water exceeds the deadweight of the anchor ring, whereby this can be brought to a floating position in the surface of the water in that the ballast tanks are emptied. In this way the anchor ring can be towed in a floating position to the intended site of use.

摘要: A device for being driven into an earthen surface. The device includes a lubrication system having a manifold. The manifold includes first orifices that deliver lubricant to the interior space of the pile body. The first orifices are spaced around a 360-degree circumference of a lower end of the device body at intervals no greater than about 50% of the 360-degree circumference. The manifold also includes second orifices that deliver lubricant to the exterior surface of the device body. The second orifices are spaced around a 360-degree circumference of a lower end of the pile body at intervals no greater than about 50% of the 360-degree circumference.

摘要: An improved method for underwater reclamation is disclosed. Dredged mud sent under pressure by an earth and sand conveying device is treated with solidifying material, and before it is solidified, it is directly fed to an underwater reclaiming apparatus. The treated mud is fed through a discharge port of the underwater reclaiming apparatus, while the discharge port is always maintained embedded at a constant depth in a previously deposited underwater reclamation mud layer at the bottom of the water. An apparatus for underwater reclamation that is suitable for practicing the improved method is also disclosed.
