摘要:
The invention relates to polymer particles in the form of filaments formed by block copolymers, as well as to the method for preparing same by means of controlled radical polymerization in emulsion in the presence of a specific living macroinitiator derived from a nitroxide. The invention is characterized in that the filamentous particles are obtained in a dispersed aqueous medium by means of the synthesis of said block copolymers, performed by heating the reaction medium at a temperature of 60 to 120° C., the final block copolymer containing between 10 and 50 mol. % of the macroinitiator which is water soluble and the hydrophobic monomer conversion rate being at least 50%. According to the invention, the weight ratio of hydrophilic fraction of the filamentous particles is less than 25 wt %.

Fibers, yarns and fabrics are produced from polymers, such as the copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate, having an elastic modulus of from 5,000 to 60,000 psi. The fibers are also characterized by an area moment of inertia of from 400.times.10.sup.-14 to 7,000.times.10.sup.-14 in.sup.4 and a stiffness parameter of from 1.times.10.sup.-5 to 1.times.10.sup.-8 lb-in.sup.2. Multiple fibers are spun into yarn, preferably cross-linked either chemically or by irradiation and are formed into pile fabrics for carpeting and similar uses. The pile fabric preferably has a minimum of 4,000 fibers per in.sup.2 of backing and a minimum pile height of 1/8 inch.

Porous fibers which are much preferred for having various functionalities such as ion exchangeability, catalytic activity, etc. can be produced by impregnating a mixed monomer liquid of at least one monovinyl monomer and at least one polyvinyl monomer which contains a polymerization initiator in substrate fibers capable of being swollen by 30 - 500 volume % with the mixed monomer liquid, polymerizing the monomers in the state of being absorbed in the fibers and then removing said substrate fibers.

High MI, high MP ethylene-fluorinated ethylene copolymers (preferably ECTFE) are meltblown through relatively large orifices. The web produced by the process is characterized by low fiber size and high strength.
摘要:
Fibers having properties of high elasticity or high tenacity are formed by drawing from the melt polybutene-1 or a copolymer of butene-1 with up to 20 mole per cent propylene or ethylene and converting the drawn fiber to crystalline Form I, in the case of elastic fibers. The degree of elasticity or tenacity depends upon the draw down ratio and the crystallinity of the polymer used, and, in the case of high tenacity fibers, the melt temperature at the die orifice.

A print method for printing three dimensional (3D) objects that are difficult to copy by use of a 3D scanner and 3D printer. The printer includes a print head with an extrusion nozzle with a heated portion and a print bed with a surface for receiving material extruded from the extrusion nozzle. The printer includes a print material supply spool loaded with an anti-scanning filament. The method includes operating the print head to draw the anti-scanning filament into the heated portion for heating and to extrude the heated filament from the extrusion nozzle to form a 3D object. The printed 3D object includes one or more scan protected exterior surfaces on at least one element of the 3D object. The scan protected exterior surfaces are either light absorbing or reflect light in unconventional directions. The anti-scanning filament is a plastic mixed with an anti-scanning additive such as a retroreflective material.
