摘要: A method is provided for generating sustained totipotent tissue cultures of a plant of the Class Monocotyledonae, and for micropropagating such plant in vitro, wherein immature inflorescence are cultivated to produce totipotent tissue which is suitable for sustained maintenance and propagation. Greening of the tissue can be induced under light and the multishoot culture can multiply by microtillering. Foreign genes can be introduced into the tissue if desired, and the transgenic plants can be used in phytoremediation technologies in the field and in phytoreactors independently of seasons.

摘要: A method is provided for enhancing hematopoiesis. The method includes transplanting at least a therapeutically effective portion of an isolated vascular tissue into a subject, wherein the vascular tissue enhances hematopoiesis. A method is also provided for detecting an agent that affects hematopoiesis. The method includes transplanting a portion of an isolated vascular tissue into a subject, wherein the portion of the isolated vascular tissue is sufficient to enhance hematopoiesis. The vascular tissue is treated with an agent, and hematopoiesis is detected in the subject. Hematopoiesis in the subject is compared with hematopoietic in a control. A change in hematopoiesis in the subject as compared to the control indicatives that the agent affects hematopoiesis. A method is provided for isolating a hematopoiesis growth factor using the method of the invention. In addition, a method is provided for isolating a hematopoietic stem cell using the method of the invention. Pharmaceutical compositions and kits for promoting hematopoiesis are also disclosed. In addition, a non-human animal model is also disclosed for testing agents that affect hematopoiesis. The model system is a non-human animal deficient for hematopoiesis transplanted with an isolated portion of a vascular tissue, wherein the portion of the vascular tissue is sufficient to promote hematopoiesis.

摘要: The present invention provides a process for large scale in vitro production of amoebocytes of Indian Horseshoe Crab (Tachypleus gigas) (T. gigas) from dissected gill flaps of T. gigas, in Leibovitz L-15 culture medium concentration (2×), to provide enhanced generation of amoebocytes. The process comprises the steps of: dissecting gill flaps of T. gigas; washing the gill flaps with an antibiotic solution followed by alcohol; culturing the gill flaps in tissue culture plates of sterile saline on a Rocker platform; culturing further the gill flaps in Leibovitz L-15 culture medium (2×); purging the gill flaps with Tween 80 solution; and purging again the gill flaps with horseshoe crab serum, while keeping the gill flaps in the culture medium viable for 90 days by feeding with fresh medium at an interval of 10-15 days to enable the enhanced release of amoebocytes both within and outside the gill flaps.

摘要: An assembly for promoting the growth of plant tissues that includes a plurality of plates each defining an array of wells wherein each of the wells contains a tissue sample. Support for the plates is provided by a rack having a plurality of vertically stacked shelves that may include one or more register depressions that urge the plates into predetermined positions. Light for the tissue samples is provided by a plurality of light-emitting diode arrays each mounted on a circuit board. Each circuit board is supported by a respective card edge connector of the rack so that the light-emitting diodes are in proximity to the plates supported on one of the shelves therebelow. Preferably, the light-emitting diode array corresponds to the well array supported in the registered position on the shelf therebelow so that each light-emitting diode is centered above a respective one of the wells.
