摘要: A method for stabilizing asphaltenes in petroleum feedstocks such as crude oil includes adding to the feedstock an effective amount of an additive containing at least one waste plastic. Suitable waste plastics include, but are not necessarily limited to, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polystyrene, polycarbonate, polyamide, and polyurethane, and combinations thereof. By “stabilizing” is meant keeping the asphaltenes in solution in the petroleum feedstocks.

摘要: The present invention provides selective extraction of sulfoxides, or sulfoxides in combination with sulfones, from hydrocarbon mixtures containing these compounds. A significant advantage of the invention is that oxidation products resulting from oxidative desulfurization of hydrocarbon feedstocks are selectively extracted with minimum co-extraction of non-oxidized products such as valuable hydrocarbon fuel components.

摘要: A catalytic composition and process for using same. The catalyst may be utilized for an oxidation reaction, for example, for the conversion of mercaptans to disulfides. The catalyst includes a metal component, for example, cobalt phthalocyanine structure. The organic component may comprise any number of different oxidation promoters that are capable of promoting the reduction of oxygen, preferably in a caustic, environment. The organic component may comprise an unsaturated six member ring having at least five carbon atoms, and wherein the sixth member of the six member ring is either C or N, and in which at least two substituent groups are present on the six membered ring.

摘要: Base oil can be recovered from contaminated O/SBF by combining a chemical process with a mechanical process. The chemical treatment includes adding a demulsifier, an anionic surfactant, a non-ionic surfactant and/or a mutual solvent to the contaminated O/SBF in an amount effective to separate the base oil from the contaminated O/SBF fluid followed by mechanical separation of oil from water, and optionally from any solids present. The recovered base oil (i.e. conventional drilling fluid, conductive drilling fluid and constant rheology drilling fluid, etc.) may then be reformulated to make a new OBM of the same type from which the base oil was recovered, or as a fuel for engines.

摘要: Treatment of hydrocarbon streams, and in one non-limiting embodiment refinery distillates, with high pH aqueous reducing agents, such as borohydride, results in reduction of the sulfur compounds such as disulfides, mercaptans and thioethers that are present to give easily removed sulfides. The treatment converts the original sulfur compounds into hydrogen sulfide or low molecular weight mercaptans that can be extracted from the distillate with caustic solutions, hydrogen sulfide or mercaptan scavengers, solid absorbents such as clay or activated carbon or liquid absorbents such as amine-aldehyde condensates and/or aqueous aldehydes.
