Abstract:
A display device includes: a light unit for emitting blue light; a color conversion panel on the light unit; a display panel between the light unit and the color conversion panel, the display panel comprising transistors; and column spacers between the transistors and the color conversion panel, the column spacers overlapping the transistors. The color conversion panel includes: a substrate; color conversion layers between the substrate and the display panel, the color conversion layers comprising semiconductor nanocrystals; a transmission layer between the substrate and the display panel; and polarization layers between the color conversion layers and the display panel and between the transmission layer and the display panel. The column spacers include a pigment that absorbs blue light.

The colorant compositions are suitable especially for color filters.
Abstract:
Electrowetting apparatus including a compound comprising a plurality of colorant moieties and a linker. The plurality of colorant moieties includes a first colorant moiety having a first net dipole and a second colorant moiety having a second net dipole, wherein the plurality of colorant moieties are linked by and disposed around the linker so that the first net dipole and the second net dipole at least partially cancel each other.
Abstract:
Azo dyes of the formula ##STR1## wherein each of D.sub.1 and D.sub.2 is a radical of a diazo component which contains at least one heterocyclic fiber-reactive radical and D.sub.1 and D.sub.2 together contain at least two water-solubilizing groups, and Y is the radical of an at least bifunctional acyl compound.
Abstract:
Provided herein are methods for inducing cell death in a gram positive bacterium and methods for reducing the proliferation of a gram positive bacterium that include contacting a gram positive bacterium with a dye (e.g., an azo dye) and a TarO inhibitor. Also provided are methods of treating a subject having a gram positive bacterial infection that include administering to a subject having a gram positive bacterial infection a dye (e.g., an azo dye) and a TarO inhibitor. Also provided are compositions containing a dye (e.g., an azo dye) and a TarO inhibitor, and kits containing at least one of these compositions.
Abstract:
Provided is an optical film which has a maximum absorption at a wavelength in the range of 600 to 680 nm, has a high dichroic ratio, and is excellent in light resistance. The optical film includes: a polymer of a polymerizable liquid crystal compound; and a compound represented by the following general formula (1).
Abstract:
Dye mixtures which comprise at least one anionic acid dye of the formula ##STR1## together with at least one anionic acid dye of the formula ##STR2## in which the substituents are as defined in claim 1, and the novel dyes of the formulae (1) and (2) are direct dyes for cellulosic fibre materials in particular. They have a high heat stability and are particularly suitable for one-bath, one-stage dyeing of polyester/cotton blend fabrics with a disperse dye for the polyester fibres under the dyeing conditions for polyester fibres.
Abstract:
There are described novel yellow to red azo compounds of the formula I ##STR1## wherein each D independently of the other is the radical of an aromatic or heterocyclic diazo component, each Z independently of the other is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl group or an acylamino group, Y is hydrogen or an unsubstituted or substituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl group, X is either the direct bond or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkylene, ##STR2## and n is a number from 2 to 6, preferably 2; and the substituent Y, in the case of an unsubstituted or substituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl group, can also be bonded to the o-position relative to the N atom of the phenylene group to form a six-membered ring, or both Y substituents can be linked together to form a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkylene bridge; described also are processes for producing the novel compounds, and their use as dyes for dyeing and printing natural and synthetic textile materials, particularly polyamide and wool materials, and also cotton, whereby there are obtained dyeings which are distinguished by good general fastness properties, especially by a good dye build-up, very good fastness to wet processing, good fastness to light, and good resistance to formaldehyde and good stability to hydrolysis.
