Abstract: A plastisol composition containing as the resin component a copolymer of a normal .alpha.-olefin and maleic anhydride (1:1 mole ratio) having the structure ##STR1## WHEREIN B is a member of the group consisting of ##STR2## and the hydrolysis product thereof, ##STR3## R is H or C.sub.x H.sub.2x+1, x is 1 to 16 and n is 2-300, and a plasticizer for said resin component. The plastisol when fluxed can be used as a closure gasket for containers.

Abstract: The invention refers to a device to create a hermetic seal for large openings in equipment subject to low pressure. According to the invention it is characterized by at least one sealing cover being provided, which is pressed onto the side wall of the equipment by means of bolts, where the bolts are welded to a strip attached to the side wall at the edge of the opening in the equipment. Abstract: A vacuum indicating closure for a container for the packaging of a vacuum-packed product, the closure being of two-piece construction and having a metal lid portion which is retained in sealing engagement with the rim of a container by a plastic ring portion. The metal lid portion has a vacuum indicating button centered therein, which vacuum indicating button can flex downwardly from its normal position into the headspace of a container under the influence a sub-atmospheric or negative pressure in the headspace. The ring portion of the closure has a radially inwardly projecting annular flange at the top thereof to urge a peripheral portion of the lid portion of the closure against the rim of the container, the ring portion of the container further having a radially inwardly projecting annular bead to lock the lid portion of the closure against the underside of the annular flange of the ring portion so that the lid portion and the ring portion can be conveniently handled in unison. The ring of the closure further has an annular skirt with radially inwardly projecting ribs thereon, whereby the closure can be mechanically attached to a helical threaded container finish by a push-on action, the ribs being deformable under compressive loadings by the helical thread on the container finish to deform and thereby ensure that the closure under normal circumstances can be removed from the container by an unscrewing motion.

Abstract: Size reduction of a barrel-type casing using a shear key is aimed for while ensuring a necessary area of a head cover end surface. Abstract: An improved home canning closure system is provided for a home canning jar featuring a plastic ring and a metal lid combination which is adapted to allow excess pressure to escape while preventing the escape of the contents from the container. The plastic ring includes an annular top panel portion and a skirt portion depending downwardly from the outer periphery of the top panel portion. The skirt portion incorporates buttress threads on its inner surface to engage threads on the external neck of the home canning jar. The plastic ring features an upwardly and outwardly inclined ramp portion on its lower surface and a thin section at the junction of the top panel and skirt portions which combine to form a spring member to maintain a constant force to bias the metal lid into sealing engagement with the upper rim on the home canning jar.
