The railway car includes a body portion for containing goods and a truck portion that is a framework for carrying a plurality of wheels of the railway car. The truck portion is connected to the body portion and is rotatable about an axis of rotation relative to the body portion. The railway car also includes a rotational joint defining the axis of rotation which the truck portion is rotatable about. The rotational joint rotatably connects the truck portion to the body portion of the railway car.

    摘要: A railcar bogie includes: a bogie frame including a cross beam and plate springs and being rotatable relative to a bolster in a yawing direction, the cross beam extending in a car width direction, the plate springs supporting both respective car width direction end portions of the cross beam and extending in a car longitudinal direction; and stoppers provided at the bogie frame and configured to contact interference members to restrict a rotation range of the bogie frame when the bogie frame rotates relative to the bolster in the yawing direction, the interference members being connected to the bolster. When the bogie frame is located at a neutral position relative to the bolster in the yawing direction, the stoppers are arranged at car width direction lateral sides of the cross beam so as to overlap the cross beam in a side view.

    摘要: A railway truck is disclosed for use with a locomotive. The railway truck may have a first axle with a first end and an opposing second end, and a second axle with a first end and an opposing second end. The railway truck may also have a plurality of wheels connected to each of the first and second axles, and an equalizer operatively supported by the first and second axles in a vertical direction. The railway truck may further have a frame, at least a first spring disposed vertically between the equalizer and the frame and configured to transfer vertical forces from the equalizer to the frame, and at least a second spring located on a side of the frame opposite the first frame and configured to transfer vertical forces from the frame to a bolster assembly.

    摘要: A one-piece, cast traction pin for use with railway cars. The traction pin is used to connect the railcar cab with the railcar truck assembly. The traction pin includes a mounting plate cast integral with the pin, thereby eliminating the use of multiple welded plates. The one-piece cast traction pin is also solid to reduce the potential for stress related failure of the traction pin during normal operation of the railway car.

    摘要: An improvement in cast metal bolsters for railway trucks is disclosed. The bolster has a top wall, a bottom wall and sidewalls. All of the walls have interior and exterior surfaces. Two transverse ribs extend between the top wall and bottom wall and two spaced longitudinal ribs extend from the top wall to the bottom wall. The bolster has a top portion, a bottom portion, a central vertical longitudinal plane between the sidewalls and a perpendicular vertical transverse plane. The transverse ribs have opposite faces in the top portion and in the bottom portion. A vertical plane extends between the opposite faces of the transverse ribs in the top portion and in the bottom portion. The opposite faces of the transverse ribs in the top portion do not diverge from a vertical plane in the same direction and opposite faces in the bottom portion that do not diverge from a vertical plane in the same direction. The transverse ribs may have a vertical plane of symmetry. The bolster is made from improved cores, including a one-piece center core that has surfaces for defining the interior surfaces of the top wall, bottom wall and side walls. The bolster may have several ribs all of this configuration. By having ribs as described, the one-piece center core can be made and pulled from the core box without damage. Other improvements to bolsters, sideframes, and to cores and methods for making bolsters and sideframes are also disclosed.

    摘要: A connection between a draft sill and a railway wheel truck is disclosed. The draft sill has a bottom and side walls extending up from the bottom. A center pin extends downward from the bottom to an exterior end surface. A boss encircles the center pin. The boss is attached to the outer surface of the center pin and to the bottom surface of the draft sill. The boss includes a plurality of ribs extending radially outward from the center pin. The total surface area of the horizontal surfaces of the boss and the center pin is less than the surface area of a standard center plate. The horizontal surfaces of the boss and center pin do not bear any vertical load under normal conditions, and no center plate is provided. The center pin and boss can be integral, and can be made to extend upward from the truck bolster to be received in an opening in the draft sill.
