Abstract:
A vehicle airbag control system has an airbag module, a detector and an electronic controller. The airbag module has an airbag that is configured to be positioned below a vehicle floor panel in an undeployed state. The airbag that is configured to be positioned to be above the vehicle floor panel in the deployed state. The detector is configured to detect a presence of an obstruction over the airbag module at a location above the vehicle floor panel. The electronic controller is programmed to deploy the airbag based on a detected result of the detector.
Abstract:
Airbag systems for use in a vehicle that is operable in a manual-steering mode or an automated-steering mode are provided. In one embodiment, an airbag system includes a primary airbag installed in a dashboard of a vehicle. The primary airbag is configured to be deployed when a collision event is detected, and, when deployed, the primary airbag is configured to protect a person seated in a driver seat of the vehicle. the airbag system also includes an auxiliary airbag configured to be deployed when the collision event is detected. During operation of the vehicle in a manual-steering mode, the deployment of the auxiliary airbag is configured to reduce contact between the primary airbag and a steering wheel of the vehicle when the primary airbag is deployed from the dashboard.
Abstract:
A roof airbag apparatus may include: a deployment guide part mounted on a sunshine roof part of a vehicle; a cushion part mounted in the sunshine roof part, and deployed in a longitudinal direction of the deployment guide part; and an inflator part mounted in the cushion part, and configured to discharge gas to the cushion part in case of a collision of the vehicle.

Abstract:
A seat includes a seat bottom and a seatback. A seatbelt buckle is supported by the seat bottom. A restraint is deployable from the seatback to a deployed position and in the deployed position includes a first edge extending along the seatback, a second edge extending along the seat bottom, and a third edge extending from the first edge to the second edge. The restraint is disposed outboard of the seatbelt buckle relative to the seat bottom.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure relate to net systems. The net system reduces the risk of injury caused by impact with a vehicle to an object or a pedestrian. The net system may include a net configured to deploy in a vehicle's environment in order to reduce the likelihood of an object colliding directly with the vehicle. The one or more energy reduction structures may be arranged on the net, and the one or more energy reduction structures may be configured to reduce injury caused by impact of the object by absorbing impact energy.
Abstract:
A device, kit, and method that utilize a cover for covering a load space of a vehicle. The cover is movable between a retracted position in which the load space is uncovered and a deployed position in which the load space is at least partially covered. A detector is used for detecting an object in the path of the cover, such that damage to the object or cover may be avoided during deployment of the cover.
Abstract:
A vehicle safety system method and apparatus comprises at least one cupboard formed in a ceiling of a vehicle, at least one net stored in the cupboard, at least one detection module configured to identify a state requiring deployment of the net; and at least one deployment module configured to deploy the at least one net when the state requiring deployment of the net is positive.
Abstract:
A curtain airbag for a motor vehicle includes an inflatable cushion and a protective sheet having an attachment edge attached to the airbag and a free-length extending from the attachment edge. The cushion formed into a folded condition from which it is deployable in a deployment direction, and the free-length of the sheet is positioned adjacent to the deployment direction of the cushion. The airbag is installed in the vehicle to deploy adjacent to a daylight opening of the vehicle. Deployment of the cushion during inflation causes the protective sheet to be drawn along with the cushion in the deployment direction so that the sheet overlays the outboard-facing side of the cushion (between the cushion and the daylight opening) and thereby provides a degree of protection against damage to the cushion that may be caused by, for example, broken window glass.
Abstract:
A occupant protection device for a case of a vehicle side collision includes: a center console which is provided on a side of a vehicular seat and at a central portion of a vehicle compartment in the vehicle width direction and in which a console box opposing an abdomen of an occupant seated in the vehicular seat in the vehicle width direction is movable to a retraction position where the console box does not oppose the abdomen in the vehicle width direction; and a moving device which when a vehicle side collision is detected or predicted, moves the console box to the retraction position.
