摘要: There is provided a technology that enables reduction of an amount of data to be processed in testing a printed image printed on a printing medium. A printing apparatus includes a printing unit, a camera, and an image-data output unit. The printing unit is capable of printing plural categories of test patterns on the printing medium. The camera captures an image of a test pattern printed on the printing medium, and outputs acquired image data to the image-data output unit. The image-data output unit reduces an amount of data of the image data output from the camera, in accordance with the category of the test pattern, and outputs acquired image data to a test apparatus.

摘要: Provided are a method for operating a CIJ printer with an optical monitoring means (80) having the steps of generating a bitmap (90,180) of the printed image to be printed, sequential controlling of charge electrodes (25) and/or deflection electrodes (30) of the CIJ printer, in order to generate dots or groups of dots of the bitmap (90,190) by applying ink droplets (12) to a substrate (100) to be printed and thus to sequentially apply a real printed image (195) to the substrate (100), capturing the real printed image (195) applied to the substrate (100) with the optical monitoring means (80), and automated comparing of the bitmap (90,190) of the desired printed image and of the real printed image (195) which has been applied to the substrate (100) and has been captured with the optical monitoring means (80), wherein the bitmap (90,190) of the desired printed image and the real image applied to the substrate (100) are automatically compared either on the basis of rows or columns of the bitmap (90,190) or on the basis of components of rows or columns of the bitmap (90,190), a CIJ printer for carrying out such a method and a method for teaching-in an optical monitoring means (80) of such a CIJ printer.

摘要: A method of operating a printer identifies image areas and image features in ink image content data that are likely to produce ink blur within an ink image. The ink image content data for these areas and features is modified to attenuate the appearance of ink blur. The image areas identified as being likely to produce ink blur are the trailing edge and the side edges of the ink image content data. The modification of the ink image content data for the features and predetermined areas improves the quality of the printed ink image.

摘要: A discharge head includes an orifice surface in which orifices each configured to discharge a droplet are arrayed in a predetermined direction. A detecting unit includes a light emitting element and a light receiving element, and optically detects a droplet discharged from the orifice. A suppression unit is arranged between the light emitting element and the orifice surface, and suppresses the light emitted from the light emitting element from reaching the orifice surface by shielding at least some rays of the light which are emitted from the light emitting element and would otherwise propagate to the orifice surface.

摘要: A color inkjet printer includes an electrode that emits an electric field into a gap between a printhead and a media transport that carries media past the printhead. Image data generated by an optical sensor after an ink image is printed on the media is analyzed to measure at least one image quality metric. When the measured image quality metric is outside of a tolerance range, the voltage of a voltage source electrically connected to the electrode is adjusted to improve the wetting of the media type with the ink ejected by the printhead.

摘要: A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a printing portion and a control portion. The printing portion executes a printing operation including ejecting a liquid from a nozzle onto a medium. The control portion executes an initial operation upon supply of power and executes the printing operation in accordance with a print instruction. The initial operation and the printing operation include a common printing operation that is common to the initial operation and the printing operation. When the control portion does not receive the print instruction during execution of the initial operation, the control portion executes the initial operation including the common printing operation. When the control portion receives the print instruction during execution of the initial operation, the control portion omits the common printing operation from the initial operation.
