Abstract: An inkjet recording apparatus is made capable of preventing ink from sticking during inactivity of the apparatus and, when viscosity of ink contained in a main ink container has fallen outside an appropriate range of viscosity, adjusting ink viscosity to fall within the appropriate range. The apparatus is configured to perform repetitively supplying a solvent contained in a solvent container to the print head and letting the solvent flow back to an ink container through a circulation path and a collection path at intervals of a certain period of time during inactivity of printing by the print head through controlling the print head and a main body.

Abstract: The invention relates to an inkjet printing system (10) and method for controlling the jetting ink viscosity. A printing head (16) comprises a first pressure sensor (20) located at a fluid inlet (26) and a second pressure sensor (22) located at a fluid outlet (28). A control unit (24) is configured to retrieve the volumetric flow (Q) from a supply pump (18) of the inkjet printing system (10) and the inlet and outlet pressures (P_in, P_out) from the pressure sensors (20, 22). The control unit (24) is further configured to calculate an actual flow resistance (R_a) and a required temperature change (ΔT) of the ink such that a calibrated ink viscosity (μ_ref) is obtained.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: an ink-jet head including a storage that stores phase transition ink, the ink jet head forms an image on a recording medium by ejecting the phase transition ink; and one or more hardware processors. The one or more hardware processors change a driving condition of the ink jet head for a case of ejecting the phase transition ink on a basis of a first reading result of a pattern image formed by the ink-jet head; estimate occurrence of a state change of the phase transition ink in the storage when the driving condition that is changed satisfies a predetermined condition; and determine whether a lifetime of the ink jet head is over in accordance with whether the occurrence of the state change is estimated.

Abstract: In some examples, a liquid container comprises a chamber forming a volume containing a liquid, an elongated strip extending into the volume containing the liquid, a plurality of heaters supported by the strip along the strip, and a plurality of temperature sensors supported by the strip along the strip. The temperature sensors output signals indicative of dissipation of heat from the heaters to indicate a level of the liquid in the volume.

Abstract: A liquid ejecting system includes a liquid ejecting head having a nozzle ejecting liquid, a supply channel communicating with the nozzle, and a recovery channel communicated with the nozzle, and circulates the liquid in the liquid ejecting head through the supply channel and the recovery channel. The supply channel includes a pressurizing section and a first buffer mechanism disposed between the nozzle and the pressurizing section. The recovery channel includes a decompression section and a second buffer mechanism disposed between the nozzle and the decompression section. The first buffer mechanism is configured to increase a buffer capacity as the supply channel is pressurized. The second buffer mechanism is configured to reduce a buffer capacity as the recovery channel is decompressed.

Abstract: A printing apparatus includes a tank configured to store a liquid to be supplied to a print head, a supply channel configured to supply the liquid from the tank to the print head, a replenishment channel configured to replenish the tank with the liquid, and a stirring unit in the tank, the stirring unit being configured to stir the liquid in the tank by rotating in a first rotation direction. A first distance from a supply port at which the supply channel opens in the tank to a replenishment port at which the replenishment channel opens in the tank in the first rotation direction is less than a second distance from the replenishment port to the supply port in the first rotation direction.

Abstract: An image recording method is provided. The image recording method includes the steps of: applying a treatment liquid containing a pore forming material onto a recording medium to form a porous layer; and applying a metallic ink containing a metallic pigment onto the porous layer. A surface tension of the metallic ink at 23° C. is equal to or greater than a surface tension of the treatment liquid at 23° C. The surface tension of the metallic ink at 23° C. is 19 mN/m or more and 28 mN/m or less.
