Abstract:
A laminate of inorganic sheet and polyester resin having an overall thickness of 5 to 25 mils and having an elongation at break in both the cross direction and machine direction of at least 25%.
Abstract:
A method for producing of a flexible heat and pressure consolidated leather laminate is provided that includes the steps of: a) stacking a flexible backing layer, a decorative layer comprised essentially of leather, and a release sheet; b) inserting the stacked layers in a thermosetting press; and c) exposing the stack to an elevated temperature and pressure for a period of time sufficient to form a laminate from said layers.
Abstract:
The invention relates to polyester/polyolefin laminate materials having improved properties. The invention also relates to copolyester/polyolefin laminate materials having improved properties. The laminates herein exhibit improved results in flammability studies. The invention further relates to methods of making laminate structures.
Abstract:
This invention relates to airships, with a volume of 15 to 60 million cubic feet of Helium. More particularly, it relates to improved structural envelope/gas bags or outer covers for lighter-than-air and neutral buoyancy airships. In detail, the material is a multi-layer cloth assembly including at least two plies of fiber cloth, said cloth comprising 56 by 56 yarns/inch with a total weight of 150 to 450 g/m2, with the fiber of the individual cloth layers having a denier generally between 180 and 280 and with the fill of the individual plies at 90 degrees to each other. Preferably, the filaments should be between 200 and 215 denier. The fibers of each layer of cloth are selected from the group consisting of extended chain polyethylene polymer or a thermotropic liquid (melt spun) crystalline polymer. The extended chain polyethylene fiber is a woven modified rip stop weave architecture, while the thermotropic liquid (melt spun) crystalline polymer fiber is a 2×2 basket weave architecture.
Abstract:
A fabric having a unique combination of stain resistance, fluid barrier properties, aesthetic characteristics and drape ability is described, and a method of making such fabrics. The fabric includes a fabric substrate that has been treated with a low surface energy stain resist compound on at least one of its surfaces, and one or more layers secured to the other of its surfaces, with the layers providing the fabric with the unique combination of characteristics. In addition, the fabric is desirably provided with flame resisting and ultraviolet resisting characteristics, to enable it to be used as a seating material for transportation vehicles. Methods for making the fabric are also described.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to a laminated tarp and a method of making this laminate. More particularly, the present invention relates to a laminated tarp containing multiple layers, including a fabric layer sandwiched between two layers of polymeric material comprising a vinyl (co)polymer and a polyurethane material. This laminated tarp can also include a thermosetting adhesive layer between the polyurethane material and the fabric layer, as well as a heat-sealable or weldable coating over the polyurethane material and/or over the vinyl (co)polymer layer. Also described is a method for making the laminated tarp.
Abstract:
Abrasion resistant laminates which are aesthetically pleasing, water-resistant/water-repellant, and flexible are formed by laminating a wear-resistant durable multi-layer top assembly to a base layer formed from an inexpensive, water resistant, polymeric substrate. The durable multi-layer wear-resistant top layer assembly comprises a wear resistant upper layer, a decorative layer, and a core layer. The polymeric base layer comprises a water resistant substrate which is positioned beneath the top layer assembly and is laminated thereto with a water resistant adhesive. This abrasion resistant laminate could be applicable in a variety of situations wherever a decorative and/or abrasion resistant product could be used and would be particularly useful in the floor covering industry.
Abstract:
A strip material (1) comprising a support (2) includes on at least one side a plastics layer (5, 6) which is plane on the outside and which is traversed by throughflow passages. In accordance with the invention, the outside (7, 8) of the plastics layer (5, 6) includes embossments (9) provided also between the orifices of the throughflow passages which at least in part inter-communicate and communicate with the throughflow passages. In the production of the strip material, during or after the production of the plastics layer (5, 6), soluble particles are applied onto the outside (7, 8) of the plastics layer (5, 6) and are then pressed into the plastics layer (5, 6), the soluble particles being leachable by a solvent of a type in respect of which the remainder of the strip material (1) is stable whereafter these soluble particles are dissolved out.
