    摘要: A workpiece holding apparatus comprises a body, a cartridge assembly carried by the body and a sleeve. The cartridge assembly comprises at least one sealing member and a bladder supported by a retainer and at least partially defining a fluid chamber that houses a pressurized fluid. At least one annular seal is axially provided between the bladder and the sealing member(s). The annular seal(s) correspond with a sealing member, which engages the annular seal(s) upon adjustment of the sealing member. A seal is formed between the sealing member and the bladder that prevents fluid from escaping the fluid chamber. The annular, cylindrical sleeve engages a workpiece when the fluid chamber houses a pressurized fluid, which exerts a radial force against the bladder to the sleeve and into engagement with the workpiece.

The pressurizing system comprises a movable operating element for pressure generation whereby the movement of the operating element causes a movement of a guideway which has an inclined or end or bend surface with respect to its direction of movement. The guideway coacts with the actuator rolling or sliding at the surface thereof whereby the movement resulting from the movement of the guideway is transmitted to at least one pressure transfer piston in a pressure cylinder. The pressure transfer piston comprises at least one support part for the actuator and a lip seal and coacts with the clamping device.

According to another feature of this invention, there is at least one groove-shaped hydraulic medium channel in the area of the surface pairing of the expansion sleeve and the base body and it can be acted upon by the supply of hydraulic medium, for example, with a manually operated piston-cylinder unit provided in the base body.

    摘要: A cutterhead, particularly for wood lathe tooling includes one or more sleeves each of which has an inner hydraulically operated circumferential gripper for securement to a rotatable arbor, and an outer, independently hydraulically operated circumferential gripper for securement to a cylinder. The outer peripheral surface of the cylinder is provided with longitudinal dovetail ribs. Knife carriers and space-filling limiters slide axially onto these ribs and are locked in place by set screws. Each carrier has a slot for radially receiving a knife to be gripped between a wedge and a corrugated keeper. The keeper and carrier slot are keyed together to provide for radial adjustment of the knife. A threaded pin restrains slot spreading and radially retains the wedge and keeper. Wedge action prevents radial throwing of elements should someone neglect to secure the carriers or limiters, or neglect to elevate the wedges. Knives are slotted for easy removal, and corrugated to match the keepers to facilitate knife height adjustment. All but inner and outer rings of the sleeves, the threaded pins and keepers are made of aluminum. The knives are made of steel.

    摘要: A bladder mandrel utilizing a sleeve of Pellethane.RTM. to effect tube expansions is disclosed herein. The sleeve which forms the bladder of the mandrel terminates in sealing beads which include fluid-capturing recesses. When the beads of the sleeve are secured within grooves provided in the mandrel body, pressurized fluid flowing through the fluid port of the mandrel enters the fluid-capturing recesses of the beads and sealingly engages these beads within their respective grooves. The sleeve consequently fills with the pressurized fluid, and effects the desired tube expansion. The walls of the sleeve are thinnest at their center portion, and become progressively thicker toward the sealing beads. The use of a Pellethane.RTM. sleeve having a centrally disposed thin-walled section results in a bladder mandrel having a relatively small outer diameter, which in turn allows it to be inserted within a tube without the need for lubricants. Additionally, the invention includes a pair of grooved joints for conveniently detaching the sealing beads of the sleeve from the body of the mandrel when replacement of the sleeve is necessary.

    摘要: A clamping sleeve for tools or workpieces intended to be clamped with a truncated conical surface on a preferably cylindrical rotatable portion with a conical surface and to support the tool or workpiece with a substantially cylindrical surface concentric with the truncated conical surface and arranged to coact with a clamping ring. The clamping ring is arranged with threads to be screwed axially in both directions on the preferably rotatable portion. The clamping sleeve can be tightened by the clamping ring be against the conical surface with its truncated conical surface. The conical surface and the cylindrical surface consist of spaced mantles, which are sealingly combined with each other at the top end of the sleeve, forming a cavity open towards the base surface of the sleeve. Moreover, the thrust collar is axially movable at the base surface relative to the sleeve and provided with an axially directed collar, which is arranged to extend into an orifice of the cavity. The cavity is filled with a substantially incompressible medium. With continued turning of the thrust collar after tightening the sleeve against the conical surface, the thrust collar is pressed towards the base surface and consequently presses the collar inwards in the cavity. The medium is then set under an increasing pressure and will press the mantles by a radial force towards the conical surface and the surface of the tool or workpiece corresponding to the substantially cylindrical surface.
