Abstract:
Devices and methods for enhancing the operations of fluid systems are provided. For example, this document provides pressure differential relief valves that are well suited for use with medical fluid reservoirs. The pressure differential relief valves provided herein are described in the context of a medical fluid system, such as an extracorporeal blood flow circuit, but the devices and methods provided herein can be implemented in other types of fluid systems including, but not limited to, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, fluid power systems, petroleum systems, and various other types of gaseous or liquid-based fluid systems.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a valve having a housing formed with a downstream port and an upstream port, with an axially displaceable plunger biased into sealing engagement of a major flow path extending between the downstream port and the upstream port for admitting flow only in the upstream direction, with the plunger formed having a normally closed minor flow path for admitting flow only in a downstream direction.
Abstract:
A mud saver valve for retaining drilling fluid in the Kelly of a rotary drilling rig for insertion into a Kelly sub with an enlarged opening inside having a valve and hollow piston closing the flow in a first position and having flow through when the hollow piston is moved by flow against a spring to an open position compressing a spring to stack height, the spring being magnetized to provide magnetic latching to assist in holding the hollow piston in the open position at flow rates lower than it would otherwise be held open.
Abstract:
A valve for an inflatable includes both inflation/deflation and pressure release functions. The valve has a housing which receives a core, a spring, and a nut. The nut is threadably received by the core and slidably received by the housing, and holds the core and spring in place within the housing. The inflation function includes a one way valve, and the release pressure of the pressure release function may both be adjusted and disabled.
Abstract:
A relief valve assembly (27) for use with first (15) and second (21) conduits, one communicating high pressure. The assembly comprises a housing (29,33) defining first (45) and second (47) ports, and a poppet seat (49). A poppet member (43) and the housing define a spring chamber (55), and a spring (39) is disposed to bias the poppet member toward the seat. The poppet member defines a shuttle cavity (51), a shuttle passage (53) communicating from the cavity to the spring chamber, and the poppet defining a seat (57), and a fluid passage (61P) communicating with the first port, and a seat (59), and a second fluid passage (63) communicating with the second port. A shuttle valve assembly (71,73,75) is provided, whereby the fluid pressure in whichever of the ports is at lower pressure is communicated to the spring chamber and adds to the force of the biasing spring.
Abstract:
A fuel blocking valve device includes a housing attached to a fuel tank of a vehicle and having a communication path between an inside and an outside of the fuel tank, a float valve for closing the communication path when fuel flows into the housing, and a two-way valve disposed above the float vale for opening and closing according to an inner pressure of the tank. The two-way valve opens and closes according to a difference between the inner pressure of the fuel tank and an atmospheric pressure. Further, the two-way valve includes a valve member for opening when the vehicle runs and vibrates. The valve member is formed of a spherical member and a cone shape valve seat for opening the communication path when the inner pressure of the fuel tank exceeds a predetermined high level.
Abstract:
Valve device for priming a pump includes a body having a first conduit connected to a pump for sucking water from a tank, a second conduit for connecting the body to a heater provided with a calibrated delivery valve for delivering superheated water, and a third conduit for discharging air during the priming of said pump, a valve for a free passage of water from the body to the heater and for the flow back of the water into the body only when the pressure inside the heater has reached a selected value near, but lower than, the pressure setting of the calibrated delivery valve.
Abstract:
The invention is an improvement in a pneumatic regulating valve of the type having a main flow path and a bleed passage. In the improvement, the bleed passage is in parallel with the main flow path and regulates a downward-trending pressure at the outlet port to prevent such pressure from diminishing or from rapidly diminishing. The valve also includes a check valve in series with the bleed passage for regulating an upward-trending pressure at the outlet port. Using a constant bleed orifice to substantially pressure-balance the check valve and a small-area protrusion on the check valve to reduce contact area, the check valve exhibits very low hysteresis.
Abstract:
A combination pressure-vacuum relief vent-valve for use in preventing excess pressure or vacuum within a railway tank car. The vent-valve includes a valve chamber having a first end adapted to communicate with the interior of the tank and a second end adapted to communicate with the atmosphere. Valve plug means is positioned within the valve chamber having a first position preventing fluid communication therethrough and a second position permitting fluid communication therethrough. The plug means is spring biased towards its first position in a manner which permits the plug means to assume its second position, and thereby relieve vacuum in the tank, only when the pressure differential between the first and second ends of the chamber exceeds a predetermined value. The plug means further includes a frangible element associated therewith to relieve excess pressure build up in the tank.
