Abstract:
In at least some implementations, a vehicle wheel well component includes a main body and a heater. The main body is adapted to define at least part of a wheel well of a vehicle, has an outer surface that in an assembled position faces a wheel of the vehicle and defines part of body of the vehicle, and an inner surface spaced from and facing away from the wheel well. The heater is carried by the main body and includes an electrical connector carried by at least one of the main body and the heater and by which electrical power is provided to the heater.
Abstract:
A refrigerator is provided. The refrigerator includes: a body having a storage compartment; a door pivotally coupled to the body to open and close the storage compartment; a planar heater including first heating wires arranged to surround an edge of the door and second heating wires arranged on only one portion of the edge; a sensor configured to measure at least one of temperature and humidity outside the refrigerator; and a processor configured to control driving of at least one of the first heating wires and the second heating wires based on a measured value of the sensor.
Abstract:
An composite heater is disclosed. The heater may include a base additively manufactured from a first matrix material, and a heating element additively manufactured adjacent the base from a second matrix material and an electrically and thermally conductive fiber that is at least partially encased in the second matrix material. The heater may also include a control mechanism configured to selectively complete a circuit between a power supply and the electrically and thermally conductive fiber.
Abstract:
A system is disclosed for additively manufacturing a composite structure. The system may include a print head configured to receive a continuous reinforcement, and at least one of a matrix jet and a matrix bath configured to wet the continuous reinforcement with a liquid matrix during passage through the print head. The system may also include a coating mechanism configured to dispense at least one of metallic and ceramic particles onto the wetted continuous reinforcement during passage through the print head, and at least one cure enhancer configured to at least one of cure the liquid matrix and cause the at least one of metallic and ceramic particles to coalesce around the continuous reinforcement. The system may further include a support configured to move the print head in multiple dimensions during discharging.
Abstract:
Heated platform systems are disclosed herein. Heated platform systems according to the present disclosure include a fiber reinforced panel that has a heating element that is made from a plurality of conductive mats. The plurality of conductive mats are placed into electrical continuity with one another by electrical leads, and are electrically isolated from one another by electrical insulating interleaf layers that prevent electrical shunting of adjacent conductive mats.
Abstract:
A radiant heating panel, for typical use as cover for interior walls and ceilings, is provided, that is manufactured in a continuous process involving at least one sheet material, a settable material and a heating element. A method of installing such a heating panel is also provided, along with an apparatus and method required to terminate the heating panel.
Abstract:
A warming unit and method for warming an infusion medium prior to introducing the medium into a patient's body. The apparatus includes an outer casing, inlet and outlet tubes secured to the outer casing, a fluid conduit for transporting the infusion medium through the warming unit, and a heating element disposed proximate to the fluid conduit for warming the infusion medium flowing therethrough. The warming unit can form part of a system, which further includes a controller for controlling various functions of and separate from the warming unit, a reservoir containing the infusion medium, and a power source for powering the warming unit.
Abstract:
A system and method for heating concrete structures to either prevent the build-up of freezing precipitation or eliminate freezing precipitation on a top surface of the concrete structures. The system includes a heating assembly integrally formed with a concrete structure to apply thermal energy to the top surface of the concrete structure. Optionally, the heating assembly includes heating elements formed of carbon fiber tape. Following formation of the concrete structure, the heating assembly is configured for unified movement with the concrete structure. The system optionally includes a control assembly operatively coupled to the heating assembly. The control assembly selectively powers the heating assembly and can be configured for remote operation. In use, the control assembly can be selectively activated from a remote location to power the heating assembly and heat the concrete structure.
Abstract:
A heating device may include an electric heating element configured to generate heat, a heat radiation element, and an electrical insulation member interposed between the electric heating element and the heat radiation element. The electrical insulation member may be bonded to both of the electric heating element and the heat radiation element.
Abstract:
A heater that includes a substantially flat layer of electrical resistance material having a first end and a second end, a first electrical conductor electrically connected to the first end of the substantially flat layer of electrical resistance material, a second electrical conductor electrically connected to the second end of the substantially flat layer of electrical resistance material, and an electrically insulating material surrounding the substantially flat layer of electrical resistance material and electrically insulating the first end of the substantially flat layer of electrical resistance material from the second end of the substantially flat layer of electrical resistance material. The heater may be mounted to a surface of a fluid component and used to heat the fluid component, and where the heater includes an aperture that extends through the electrically insulating material, the heater may be placed between a fluid component and a fluid substrate and used to heat both.
