摘要: A switching device, for a wye-delta switch in a multiphase motor each phase having one motor winding having a connection pair and contact device (CD), has an electromagnetic drive for drive axle movement between three axial positions, the CD having first and second motor winding connection contacts (MWCC), phase connection contact (PCC), and movable contact bridge (MCB) coupled to the drive axle and movable thereby into the three positions. In position-1, axially between positions-2/3, the MCB is open—no CC is connected to another CC by the MCB; in position-2, the MCB is in ‘wye’ contact position—the MCB connects the PCC to the first MWCC, and the second MWCC is connected to the second MWCC of all other CDs using the ‘wye’ coupled to the drive axle; and in position-3, the MCB is in a ‘delta’ contact position—the MCB connects the FCC to the first and second MWCC.

摘要: A controllable switching mechanism integrally housed within a motor to optimally couple the windings of an AC motor for improved torque-speed characteristics. The switching mechanism includes a plurality of double throw switches each with a first and second closed position. The first closed position results in connecting the windings of the AC motor in one configuration for improved torque at lower rotor speeds. The second closed position results in connecting the windings of the AC motor in another configuration for improved torque at higher speeds. The winding configurations may be wye for lower speeds and delta for higher speeds. An accompanying controller, based on various inputs, optimally senses the best time for switching between configurations and sends appropriate control signals to the switching mechanism housed with the AC motor.

摘要: The alternating current motor stator of a polyphase motor has each coil wound of at least two separate conductors. The terminal ends of each conductor is encoded for separate circuit interconnection to other conductors of other coils of the motor stator. The coils are inserted into the stator with a single coil side per slot and appears as a conventional chain winding. The bi-filar wound coils have the encoded ends connected to obtain the benefits of double delta winding connections. The coils are paired and selectively connected to each other by speed responsive switches to define a double delta run winding with the phase windings connected in parallel and a double-delta start winding.

摘要: One embodiment describes a method that includes, when a motor is disconnected from a power source: starting, using a control circuitry, a counter at a first voltage zero-crossing by either a source voltage or a back electromotive force generated by the motor; stopping, using the control circuitry, the counter at a next subsequent second voltage zero-crossing by either the source voltage or the back electromotive force; monitoring, using the control circuitry, a trend in counter values; and instructing, using the control circuitry, one or more switching devices to reconnect the power source to the motor after a local minimum in the counter value trend such that the source voltage is leading the back electromotive force.
