    Abstract: A stator includes a multi-phase stator coil comprised of phase windings. Each of the phase windings is formed of a continuous electric conductor and includes in-slot portions and coil end portions. Each of the in-slot portions is received in one of slots of a stator core. Each of the coil end portions is located outside the slots so as to connect one adjacent pair of the in-slot portions. Each of the coil end portions includes at least one oblique part that extends obliquely at an oblique angle with respect to either an axial direction or a circumferential direction of the stator core. The oblique angles of the oblique parts of the coil end portions in at least one of the phase windings of the stator coil are set to be different from the oblique angles of the oblique parts of the coil end portions in the other phase windings.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a stator assembly for an electrical machine, including the steps of: arranging a plurality of elongate wire segments in single file along the depth of a stator slot located between opposing walls of a pair of adjacent stator core teeth; compressing the wire segments substantially in a direction of the stator slot depth, whereby the wire segments are compacted into the stator slot; plastically deforming at least one of the wire segments, whereby a cross-section of the plastically deformed wire segment is expanded in a direction along which the opposing tooth walls are spaced from each other; and deforming the tip of at least one of the pair of adjacent stator core teeth to at least partially close up the stator slot upon the compressed wire segments and further compacting the wire segments into the stator slot.

    Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a stator and manufacturing method of the stator in which the coil conducts of the stator have three phases (a U phase, V phase, and W phase), which are arranged in a distributed winding form in a plurality of slots of a stator core. The coil conductors of the three phases each include a slot conductor portion that is disposed in the slot, and a pair of coil end conductor portions disposed on both axial sides of the stator core to connect the slot conductor portions disposed in the different slots. The stator also includes a first side transition wire portion in each phase that is disposed further toward a radial inner side than an inner peripheral end surface of a tooth provided on each circumferential side of the slot so as to overlap another first side transition wire portions in the axial direction.

    Abstract: A circular wire with a circular cross section is wound on a coil reel. When a winding-form motor rotates a winding form, the circular wire is pulled and drawn from the coil reel. Rectangular forming rollers press the circular wire, so that a rectangular wire with a rectangular cross section is formed. The rectangular wire is directly wound on the winding form to be formed into a rectangular-wire coil. Because forming rectangular wire and winding on the winding form are carried out in a sequence of contiguous processes, a separate process for removing torsion set of the rectangular wire is unnecessary. The rectangular-wire coil can be formed from inexpensive circular material wire by a simple and low-cost apparatus. It is also possible and preferable to make dimensions and a shape of the rectangular wire variable by controlling clearance widths between the forming rollers and tension acting on the rectangular wire that has passed through the rollers.
