Abstract:
A secure detachable utility monitoring device is disclosed, to be appended to a utility metering apparatus for controlling at least one utility usage consumption. A detachable metering monitoring device of at least one embodiment includes: a usage reading interface to acquire a utility consumption value metered by the utility meter; a first memory to store at least a unique identifier ID and a personal key, both pertaining to the device; a crypto processor to generate a cryptogram from information data comprising at least the utility consumption value, the cryptogram being encrypted with the personal key; a message generator to generate an information message including at least the cryptogram and the unique identifier ID; and a communication network interface including a sending unit to send the information message to a remote management center.

Abstract:
A locking assembly for electrical enclosures to prevent unauthorized tampering with internal power connections. The locking assembly comprises an adjustable bracket which is secured to the walls of the enclosure by bolts; a cover which covers the open front and a substantial part of the sides of the enclosure and which is secured by a bolt to the adjustable bracket, a locking shield which overlies and prevents removal of the bolt which attaches the cover to the adjustable bracket, and a removable lock bolt which secures the shield to the cover.
Abstract:
The present device is a means for preventing unauthorized access to an electric meter box, and comprises a clamp holding the box lid shut, the clamp being locked in place overhanging the lid by a bolt through a bracket fixed on the box wall and a bolt type lock passed through registering holes in the clamp and bracket. All parts except the overhanging and adjacent portion of the clamp and a small portion of the lock are shielded from tampering by an enclosing yoke locked in place by the lock.
Abstract:
A watthour meter of the self-contained detachable type has a protected meter testing arrangement. An isolated external test contact and an internal terminal blade connector are independently connected to a common terminal end of the meter voltage winding. The connector is manually disconnectable for testing the meter through the external test contact in an "open-link" watthour meter testing method.
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for a pocket junction box system. In an example, a pocket junction box is configured to fit inside a meter collar. The pocket junction box includes a first set of electrical terminals on a rear surface of the pocket junction box for interfacing with wire leads inside the meter collar, and a second set of electrical terminals on a front surface of the pocket junction box for interfacing with field wire leads outside the meter collar. The pocket junction box may further include at least one current transducer and at least one microprocessor for monitoring the power flow through the pocket junction box. A front casing is attached to the front surface of the pocket junction box and connected to the second set of electrical terminals. The front casing may include a communications circuit board for communicating with a meter data management system.
Abstract:
A tamper resistant box for shielding from tampering a telephone system junction box installed upon a wall of a building, consisting of a pair of side walls; an upper or lower wall fixedly attached to or homogeneously fused with the upper or lower ends of the side walls, the upper or lower wall spanning between the side walls; wall attaching means fixedly attached to or homogeneously fused with the inward ends of the side walls; an access panel fitted so that it may span between the lower or upper ends of the side walls; access panel attaching means capable of removably attaching the access panel to the lower or upper ends of the side walls; a false access panel fitted so that it may span between the outer ends of the side walls and so that it may span between the outer ends of the upper or lower wall and the access panel; and false access panel attaching means capable of permanently attaching the false access panel to the outer ends of the side walls.
Abstract:
A one-piece seal ring for locking an electrical watt-hour meter into the socket of a meter base. The seal ring includes a locking mechanism which once locked cannot be unlocked without cutting or breaking a portion of the lock. The seal ring and locking mechanism are entirely manufactured of one-piece construction using a brightly colored, flexible and resilient thermoplastic, enabling the locking seal ring to be inexpensively manufactured with little or no manual labor using modern thermoplastic injection molding in automated machinery. The coloring of the lockable seal ring, being contrasting to that of the flange of the meter, provides structuring to provide a visual signal of an unlocked or missing seal ring on an installed electrical meter.
Abstract:
Locks securely close a commercial electric power meter box at the front of the meter box where it is visible by a meter reader. One version of the lock readily indicates unauthorized entry into the meter box by extending the seal to the front of the box. Another version of the lock requires a special tool to remove the lock in addition to extending the seal to the front of the box. Yet another version of the lock is equipped with a fully enclosed and protected cylinder lock, which cannot be opened without a special tool and a key even if the seal is broken. All of the locks can be easily installed on existing commercial meter box installations.
Abstract:
A watthour meter enclosure with tamper resistance means characterized by a meter cover and a meter base assembled for preventing unlocking rotation of the cover and including locking means between the base and cover for preventing unlocking and/or for indicating surreptitious tampering if it occurs.
