    摘要: This disclosure describes thin optical media that may be compliant with conventional DVD drives. Unlike conventional DVDs, however, the described media does not include the non-information bearing “dummy” substrate. Instead, the described media may comprise a single substrate having a thickness of approximately 0.6 millimeters. Depending on the format, reflective layers, information layers, dyes, phase change materials, or other materials may be deposited over the replicated side of the substrates. Furthermore, in accordance with this disclosure, a hard coat layer is also formed over the replicated side of the media in order to provide mechanical integrity to the media. Printable layers, printed layers, lacquer, or other materials may also be added. The elimination of the non-information bearing “dummy” substrate can reduce raw materials, thereby reducing costs and providing a more environmentally friendly optical disk. The hard coat can provide the mechanical protection to the replicated side of the 0.6 millimeter substrate.

    摘要: An optical recording medium comprises a light transmissive substrate, a record film formed on a surface of the base plate, the record film containing phthalocyanine as a coloring matter, a light-reflection film formed on a surface of the record film, and a protection film formed on a surface of the light-reflection film, the protection film having a thickness capable of preventing the light-reflection film from braking by a deformation thereof in directions to the light-reflection film and the protection film due to a formation of a pit in the record film. The data is recorded in the recording medium by irradiating a light from a side of the light transmissive substrate, melting and sublimating phthalocyanine in the record film to effect the deformation to the directions of the substrate, the light-reflection film and the protection film, and forming a cavity in the substrate and a capsule portion in the record film to cover the cavity, the capsule portion having a composition different from that of the record film.

    摘要: An optical disk adapted to resist moisture absorption, warping and static charge is disclosed. The disk includes an SiO.sub.2 film coating over at least a portion of a disk substrate. Additionally, an optical disk having a magnetic film protected by a fluorocarbon polymer is disclosed. Either of such disks can be used individually or, alternatively, they can be used in a laminated structure having two disks laminated in a face-to-face relationship. The laminated structure can be covered with SiO.sub.2 film.
