The assembly includes an adapter plate with a backing portion shaped to couple with and inhibit bending of the license plate. It incorporates a frame mounted on a license plate, optionally within the license plate recess at the front or rear of a vehicle, and utilizes panels that are continuous with or removeably attached to a central component framing the license plate in order to optimize visual appeal, minimize aerodynamic drag, and reduce or eliminate potential clearance issues. A removeably attachable panel configuration allows for panels to be mounted on one or both lateral sides, providing a means for customization based on a vehicle's exterior design or user preference.

Advertisement is a multi-billion dollar business in US (per year). Here, we use license plate frames for the advertisement. One example of the application describes a license-plate-frame-based advertisement verification system. In order to validate and verify the correct placement/mounting of a license plate frame advertisement at a given location over time, it is necessary to validate that both (a) the ad is correctly placed on the vehicle, and (b) to verify that the ad is at a given location at that time. The method required to verify these includes some control systems and components. Different variations and examples are also presented here.

The frame includes a first portion in parallel, spaced relation from a second portion and joined thereto along opposite ends by first and second interconnection portions. A handle extends outwardly from a first face of the second portion. First and second spaced openings along the first portion receive associated fasteners to secure the frame to the associate license plate and associated vehicle. First and second spaced apart, segmented studs (circular or non-circular) extend outwardly from a second face of the second portion for receipt in corresponding openings in the associated license plate, or to abut against an outer surface thereof. A reversible license plate holder attachable to a prepared rear panel of a vehicle. A rectangular perimeter frame has an obverse and a reverse side and an open central area, the frame having an L-shaped cross-section defining a flange sized to be aligned with and receive a license plate positionable thereagainst. The frame also has spaced mounting holes which are alignable with mounting holes in the license plate and with threaded holes in the rear panel for attaching the holder against the rear panel. When the holder is attached to the rear panel so that the reverse side faces outwardly in a temporary use mode by a car dealer, an upper retaining tab forming a first U-shaped channel with the frame trappingly receives an upper edge of the license plate and a lower retaining tab forming a second U-shaped channel trappingly receives a lower edge of the license plate when a lower edge of the flange is resiliently flexed downwardly, then released. In this mode of use, only the flange and the upper and lower retaining tabs hold the license plate in place. In the permanent use mode, the obverse side is outwardly facing and the holder and license plate are attached to the rear panel or bumper together conventionally.

A method for producing an embossed information plate, e.g., a license plate, wherein desired indicia are embossed in the front surface in relief form and retroreflective sheeting is adhered to the background portions of the front surface. A reflective sheeting having a low-tack, heat-activated adhesive on its backside is tacked to a plate blank. When the plate blank is embossed with desired indicia, the sheeting is simultaneously cut out according to the indicia. After the cut-out portions of the sheeting are removed, the embossed plate and trimmed sheeting which is tacked thereto are passed between a series of pairs of co-acting, resilient lamination rollers wherein the roller of each pair which contacts the sheeting is heated. The rollers conform to the contour of the indicia and heat the sheeting and adhesive, thereby causing the adhesive to effectively wet the surface of the plate and activating it as the sheeting is simultaneously laminated to the plate.

Embodiments of the present invention disclose a mobile messaging device that is battery powered with no hard wire connection to the vehicle's electrical system. Signage is backlit for visibility in both low and high ambient lighting conditions. To conserve battery power, the signage is lit after braking (deceleration) of the vehicle for a brief period of time. To further conserve battery power, the signage is backlit at different intensity levels which depend on ambient lighting conditions. Deceleration sensing is provided by a sensor fully incorporated within the mobile messaging device, which requires no external wiring to the vehicle's electrical system. The deceleration sensor is user adjustable to minimize false triggering. Messaging can be provided by user replaceable transparent placards or by backlit, user programmable liquid crystal display panels. In one configuration, the mobile messaging device is incorporated into a vehicle license tag frame.
