Abstract: A device for providing haptic sensation includes a haptic feedback interface. A plurality of videos each recording a real time or near-real time event in a three-dimensional real-world area from a different viewing angle is received and a user input via a mode selector in form of a gesture or a physical touch input is received to indicate a selection of an image-capture device is received. A plurality of different motion of a plurality of objects in an upcoming scene of a captured video is detected based on a look-ahead buffer of the video. A plurality of different haptic cues that includes the one or more movable haptic cues is generated based on the determined haptic feedback. Further, movement of the one or more movable haptic cues is controlled on the haptic feedback interface such that an inter-movement among the plurality of objects is discernible by tactioception.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods, apparatus and systems for real-time gesture recognition. One exemplary method for the real-time identification of a gesture communicated by a subject includes receiving, by a first thread of the one or more multi-threaded processors, a first set of image frames associated with the gesture, the first set of image frames captured during a first time interval, performing, by the first thread, pose estimation on each frame of the first set of image frames including eliminating background information from each frame to obtain one or more areas of interest, storing information representative of the one or more areas of interest in a shared memory accessible to the one or more multi-threaded processors, and performing, by a second thread of the one or more multi-threaded processors, a gesture recognition operation on a second set of image frames associated with the gesture.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus and systems for recognizing sign language movements using multiple input and output modalities. One example method includes capturing a movement associated with the sign language using a set of visual sensing devices, the set of visual sensing devices comprising multiple apertures oriented with respect to the subject to receive optical signals corresponding to the movement from multiple angles, generating digital information corresponding to the movement based on the optical signals from the multiple angles, collecting depth information corresponding to the movement in one or more planes perpendicular to an image plane captured by the set of visual sensing devices, producing a reduced set of digital information by removing at least some of the digital information based on the depth information, generating a composite digital representation by aligning at least a portion of the reduced set of digital information, and recognizing the movement based on the composite digital representation.

Abstract: A contactless card useful for adjusting the operation, configuration, and/or performance of a secondary device is described. The contactless card is equipped with a communication interface which allows the contactless card to transmit information to the secondary device using NFC signals. The contactless card stores accommodation information related to a physical accommodation desired by the user and transmits that information in the form of an accommodation message to the secondary device after being placed in a NFC field generated by the secondary device. In some embodiments, the contactless card requests an authentication certificate in order to determine a degree of trust prior to sending an accommodation message. In some embodiments, the contactless card may adjust what accommodation information is included in the accommodation message based on the authentication certificate received from the secondary device.

Abstract: A user device receives a first media item that is associated with a second media item. The device determines that a playback state for the device indicates that the device is paired with an alternative playback device. The device sends the playback state in a request for the second media item, receives the second media item in a first format for playback on the user device and in a second format for playback on the alternative playback device. The device determines whether the playback state of the device is the same. The device displays a first graphical representation of the second media item in the first format on the user device if the user device is no longer paired with the alternative playback device and displays a second graphical representation of the second media item in the second format on the user device if the user device is still paired with the alternative playback device.

Abstract: A sign language message may be derived from user movements detected proximate to an electronic device by comparing the movements to a database that includes data regarding one or more sign languages. A control function may then be identified which the electronic device may be caused to perform. Output related to the user's detected movements may be provided to the user. In some implementations, output specifying identified control functions may be transmitted to a presentation device. Further, in some implementations, if a sign language message and/or a control function cannot be unambiguously derived and/or identified, output promoting the user to provide additional information may be transmitted to a presentation device. Detected movements may be compared to data regarding multiple different sign languages and/or a subset of available multiple different sign languages.

The pitch of the roof may be used to capture perpendicular images of sample regions that have a defined area-squared.
