Abstract: A method for detecting events includes receiving measurements from a plurality of sensors, and executing a machine learning model trained to identify events based on the measurements. The machine learning model identifies the events based on the measurements. The method also includes determining based on the measurements and the identified events that training applied to the machine learning model is to be modified. A modified training data set is generated based on the measurements and an initial training data set used to train the machine learning model to identify the events. The modified training data set is applied to retrain the machine learning model.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a system that automatically adapts a prognostic-surveillance system to account for aging phenomena in a monitored system. During operation, the prognostic-surveillance system is operated in a surveillance mode, wherein a trained inferential model is used to analyze time-series signals from the monitored system to detect incipient anomalies. During the surveillance mode, the system periodically calculates a reward/cost metric associated with updating the trained inferential model. When the reward/cost metric exceeds a threshold, the system swaps the trained inferential model with an updated inferential model, which is trained to account for aging phenomena in the monitored system.

Abstract: A press and a process for operating it, has an upper tool and a lower tool for shaping a workpiece and a work unit including a press drive and/or a drawing device, is controllable by a controller, to perform the shaping process. The controller outputs, to the work unit, press process values, which define the sequence of events of the shaping process. Workpiece parameters characterize, for example, the material and/or the shape and/or at least one dimension and/or quality of the workpiece, which still has to be shaped or has already been shaped. The controller is assigned a composition matrix which contains, for each defined workpiece parameter and for each defined press process value, an individually changeable function, to describe the relationship between every one of the defined workpiece parameters and the defined press process values. This composition matrix allows a quick and rapid adjustment and adaptation of the press.

Abstract: A method for managing a plurality of equipment pieces and operations within a factory for the manufacture of carbon fiber pieces, in order to increase production rate and reduce thereby manufacturing costs. In the method of the invention, collected production times are classified as added value production time or as wasted production time, and an efficiency parameter is calculated as a proportion between the sum of the added value production times, and a period of production time needed to complete said operation. Based on that efficiency parameter, causes for said wasted production times are identified and corrected. The invention provides a methodology for detecting and correcting causes which reduce production efficiency, in industries with low productivity cadence.
