The present invention relates to a method for producing a structure modeled on a biological tissue. The invention also relates to a structure which can be produced using the method according to the invention. According to an embodiment of the invention, a precursor of a biopolymer is locally irradiated with electromagnetic radiation in a targeted manner, wherein the irradiation, in particular the selection of the areas to be irradiated, is effected according to data which describe a structural construction at least components of the extracellular matrix of the biological tissue. In this case, the electromagnetic radiation is such that two-photon or multi-photon absorption takes place in the irradiated areas of the precursor and results in the precursor being polymerized to form the biopolymer in the irradiated areas, with the result being that the precursor is at least partially solidified there.

An apparatus and a method for forming a three-dimensional article with two-part curable material on the basis of a three-dimensional information on the article by means of an ink jet method. The material is jetted from at least one ink jet to a stage and laminated thereon. In two-part curable material, microcapsules which encapsulate setting material of the two-part curable material are scattered. These microcapsules are ruptured by radiation of light and so on. The laminated two-part material is supplied with radiation of light from a light source so that it is cured. In this process, a jetting direction of the material from the ink jet head to the stage and/or a jetting amount of the material jetted from the ink jet head is changed in accordance with the information by a control unit, thereby forming a solid article having a desired three-dimensional shape.

The key enabler of such control is electro-optical or other suitable sensors, generally non contact, capable of rapidly and accurately acquiring data from parts and tools used to produce them in a production “in-process” environment. Systems are disclosed to control not only the instant operation, but those processes connected therewith, both upstream and downstream. Data bases are generated and knowledge bases are used. Application of the invention can improve quality and productivity, and allow the production of parts which have unusual or individual material characteristics.

The liquid amount of droplets per unit area to be discharged from droplets discharging units that formed the first-portion and the liquid amount of droplets per unit area to be discharged from droplets discharging units that formed the second-portion are adjusted such that a difference in density of colors to be reproduced decreases. The object is modeled by repeating processing for discharging droplets from the droplet discharging units based on the object data.

The 3-D Model Maker of the present invention is a device that builds three dimensional models of computer generated (e.g., CAD) structures by vector plotting layer-upon-layer applications of solidifiable substances. The layers are formed by expelling minuscule beads of the substances in liquid or flowable phase onto a platform from one or more jets, the jets and platform being relatively movable in X, Y and Z coordinate system. The beads are deposited along vectors, during X/Y relative movement, on the stage, one at a time, layer-upon-layer, to build the model. The jets and platform are moved relatively to one another in accordance with instructions from the computer (controller) to form each layer in the X-Y plane (in a manner analogous to an X-Y vector plotter) and either the stage or the jets may move in the Z direction to allow the jets to form subsequent layers.

The servos (20) and (22) further control the position of a working head (24) and working head (26) so that mass particles are injected to arrive at predetermined coordinate points in the coordinate system to form an article (34). An origination seed (32) is fixed at an origin of the coordinate system and the article (34) is built up around the origination seed (32). Other coordinate systems and apparatus for locating the mass particles at the coordinates of a three-dimensional article are disclosed so that the article may be built up in a number of coordinate systems, and controlled environments.

The region to be solidified is divided into a first sub-region and a second sub-region, and a respective solidification scan of the region locations to be solidified is specified in a data model. The scan solidifying the construction material, and a repeated scan, is specified at the locations of the second sub-region but not at the locations of the first sub-region. The energy input parameter during the repeat scan is measured such that the temperature of the construction material lies above a melting temperature. The method further includes a third step of providing data models generated in the second step as control data for integrating into a control data set.
